Glacier Ridge Elementary School 03.30.20

Dear Glacier Ridge Families and Polar Bears,

Welcome back from Spring Break and our mandatory days off. We hope that this communication finds you all healthy and happy. Hopefully you have found the engagement activities that your child's teacher sent out useful and engaging. Tomorrow we start a new adventure together as we all shift into Remote Learning. We want to assure you that our teachers have been working hard to make this transition happen and are ready to begin teaching again - be it remotely.

Beginning tomorrow and each day after, at approximately 8:30 am, you will receive an email from your child's teacher. This email will contain the information for the daily expectations for learning. The information will also be sent out via the platform that your child’s teacher typically communicates (be it Google Classroom or Seesaw). We want to assure you that we will continue to follow our curriculum as close to where we left off as possible. If you have more than one child with us please know that each of our teachers may have different methods of communication and instruction so you may see their unique approach reflected in their daily activities.

Please see additional information below for more specific details.

We are polar bears and we can do this!

All the best,

Mr. Jacobsen and Mrs. Adams

District Communication

District 47 has launched a remote learning webpage for parents. Here you will find an overview of our remote learning plan, expectations, frequently asked questions, links and resources. Also, all emails that came directly to you from the District since March 12th can be accessed here:

Internet Access and Devices

We are working hard to ensure all of our families have internet access and at least one device per family. If you or someone you know needs help with this, please let us know so we can notify our technology department. Also, starting Tuesday, March 31st, all D47 schools will offer free internet access from school parking lots. Check your email for a message from our district about this.

How to Reach Us

As always, we are here to support you. Should you need anything please contact your child's classroom teacher via email or phone or call the school phone (815)444-4850. If you contact the school directly you will leave a voicemail and we will return your call.

Learning in Action!

We want to see our students learning at home and what you are doing as a family during this “Stay at Home” period. Please submit photos to us at If you post these on your own social media accounts, be sure to tag Glacier Ridge on our social media accounts and use hashtags #ILschoolsstepup and #D47stepsup.
