APRIL 12, 2023 - NEWSLETTER
SLPHS families,
So, this is what spring is supposed to feel like! I am glad the weather is finally inviting us to spend time outside without jackets! As the weather warms, I will be reminding all students, especially our seniors, that we still have some serious learning to do. Please help reinforce the importance of excellent attendance and effort throughout this final trimester.
Last Thursday’s career fair was a tremendous success. We had 118 organizations engage students in learning about current and future career opportunities across a diverse list of career fields. Students learned about opportunities they can access now and some that await them after graduation.
Our students also impressed the representatives of these organizations. One came up to me to thank us for putting on this event and shared how impressed she was with our students’ level of engagement and questions. Another shared that he was at a local college last week and “your students are more engaged, asking better questions and more enjoyable to interact with than those students…and they are adults!”
It was truly a great event all around. I want to thank Eric Van Brocklin, our Pathways lead, for leading this work. It was a great event for our students and our community.
This Friday, April 14 is our last early release day this year. Students will be released from classes at 12:40 p.m. Lunch will be served at that time. Students who ride buses and those who choose to stay at school will have opportunities to sign up for activities or continue to work in productive spaces. Buses will run at regular times.
Thank you for your ongoing support and for consistently reinforcing the importance of sustained academic focus and effort throughout the spring. We build bright futures together.
One school, one community #SLPPantherProud!
