Thank You for an Amazing October - Let's Celebrate Together!
Dear College Park School Community,
I hope this message finds you well and filled with excitement as we close out our incredible "Fall into College Park" month of October. We've had a whirlwind of events, and your engagement and support have been truly remarkable!
From Literacy Night to LatinoFest, House Party, the STEM Bus Ribbon Cutting Event, Parent Conferences, the Breast Cancer Awareness Walk, and the Double Goods Fundraiser, it's been an eventful journey, showcasing the strength and unity of our College Park community.
Now, as we prepare to wrap up this fantastic month, we invite all of our families to join us for the grand finale - the Banneker Cluster Night Parade. This Friday, October 27th, let's come together as a united school and celebrate our community spirit.

Important Updates And Reminders
Dismissal Safety Concern
I would like to take a moment to update you on a concern I have with the present need for communicating to parents the approved steps needed to ensure the school is to follow the communication protocol when instituting a change of transportation or dismissal process that is designed to enhance the safety and security of all our students.
**Change in Transportation/Dismissal Mode Process**
Ensuring the safety of your children is our top priority. We have always worked diligently to support the transportation needs of our students, and this process is in line with our commitment to their well-being. Starting last week we began upholding the College Park Transportation Change process for any changes to the mode of transportation or early pick-up for your child.
**Written Approval Required**
For the safety and documentation of your child's transportation arrangements, we now are enforcing the requirement of that any request for changes to the dismissal mode (e.g., from bus to parent pick-up, or vice versa) or early pick-up must be submitted in writing. This change is essential to initiate our internal documentation and communication processes effectively. Other methods such as emails and dojo messages can't be guaranteed due to staff roles, responsibilities during the work day, and the chance of absence.
**Why must we Enforce the Process?**
The primary reason for this change is to ensure the safety and accountability of our students. With a written request, we can immediately communicate your child's change in transportation to the relevant staff members and ensure that your child is directed accordingly. This will also help us avoid any confusion or misunderstanding during the dismissal process.
**How to Submit a Request**
To request a change in your child's transportation mode or an early pick-up, please use the following process:
1. Write a clear and concise note detailing the request.
2. Include your child's full name and grade.
3. Specify the date and details of the transportation change.
4. Sign and date the note.
You can submit this written request to the front office staff or your child can provide the note to their teacher. You can send parents a Class Dojo to inform them to check for the note; however, it does not change the need for a legal signature note. It also does not confirm receipt.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we enforce the process. It is an important step towards creating a safer and more organized environment for all our students.
Please know that our front office staff is available to assist you in this process and answer any questions or concerns you may have. We are confident that upholding our process will benefit the entire school community, and we thank you for your continued support.
If you have any questions or require further clarification, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Your child's safety is our shared responsibility, and together we can ensure a secure and productive learning environment.
Thank you for your attention to this matter, and for entrusting us with the education and well-being of your child.
