Hubbard Update
Hubbard Families,
Over the past few weeks, there has been an increase in COVID locally and nationally. Even with the difficulties we face daily with COVID, I continue to be thankful for those who are part of our Hubbard community. Parents, families, businesses, Hubbard staff, and our Kuna community continue to find ways to support one another. Thank you for being a member of the Hubbard and Kuna community as we navigate these challenges together.
I'm beyond thankful for families who have supported and understand the office staff's responsibilities, for the staff who cover classrooms and other learning settings, and district substitutes who step in to help. In addition to these helpful adults, our students have been flexible and understanding when there are changes to the staff in various settings of the building. Our focus continues to be providing an education for our students, which we continue to do with so many helping hands.
As mentioned below and in Superintendent Johnson's district update, our nurse and office staff cannot keep up with contact tracking and notifying families of exposures. We ask that you please keep an eye on your child(ren) and follow district COVID protocols. The KSD illness tree is linked below for your information as well.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support as we continue to focus on the students.

Updated COVID Information for KSD and Hubbard
We discussed our COVID-19 Illness Tree (shared below) with the Board of Trustees on Tuesday and have updated it based on feedback and flexibility the CDC has provided around quarantine and isolation periods.
We also simplified information to one-page. It provides direction for individuals who:
- are sick to stay home
- are COVID-19 positive
- are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms
- have been exposed to a COVID-19 positive individual
We are grateful for the grant that allows us to provide free COVID-19 tests to our staff and to families who want them for their children.
COVID Notifications Reminder
Reminder: At the start of the year, we shared that COVID-19 was so prevalent in our community that our health team is unable to contact trace to identify close contacts of COVID positive individuals in our schools. That also meant that we are not sending out notifications. Parents can trace the level of positive cases in every school on our COVID data dashboards.
COVID Mask Use Update
With the Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks over, our review of data to make decisions per our mask policy is back to every two weeks. Based on data from Jan. 3-14 masks are:
- Optional - Fremont Middle School and Indian Creek
- Recommended - Hubbard, Ross, Kuna Middle, Silver Trail, Crimson Point, Kuna High, Reed
- Required - Initial Point. IP is a small school and just barely hit the threshold for "required."
The next review will be Jan. 28.

FREE COVID Testing For KSD Staff & Students
The Kuna School District is offering free, optional tests to help staff and students who have symptoms identify quickly whether they have COVID. Students will not be tested without signed parent consent.
These are rapid COVID tests providing results in about 20 minutes. Our goal is for staff and parents to have information quickly to avoid unnecessary time away from school in quarantine.
