PARENT FEEDBACK ABOUT LEARNING AT HOME
Our school inquiry for 2018 is to inquire into how we can move children from being passive to actively engaged in their learning. We are hoping you can answer two questions to assist us with our review and next steps planning. Please click on the link to assist us:
STRATFORD HIGH SCHOOL ORIENTATION VISIT
Parents are responsible for getting their children to and from Stratford High School for this event. If you will have difficulty doing this please contact the office. We may be able to help you coordinate your child sharing a ride with another family.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR A SOME OF VOLUNTEERS - COULD THIS SUIT YOU??
our enviro projects and to lend a hand in the orchard and in our vegetable gardens or
to do odd jobs around the school that pop up every now and again or
to assist with spraying the school grounds a few times a year or
to assist with cooking/preserving some of the food we grow.
If you are interested please give Kim a call so we can chat about how we can work together. If you have a little bit of time or a lot of time we would love to hear from you :)

PTA CHRISTMAS RAFFLE
The PTA would like each child in our school to donate at least one item for this raffle. To ensure we get a wide variety of items we are asking that each class bring a different food item. Please ensure items are not damaged or expired. Thank you.

SCHOOL PRODUCTION 2018 SHREK
Monday 26th November Technical Rehearsal - Year 7 & 8 only
Year 7 & 8 only at the TET theatre. If children live in town or you take them to school can they please be dropped off at the theatre between 8.00—8.30 and collected at 3.00. Mrs Hancock will be there from 8.00am. All children are to enter the theatre from the back entrance via Miranda Street. If your child catches the bus they will arrive at school as usual and then travel together on one of the buses into the theatre. They will return via bus and arrive home as usual.
Tuesday 27th November Full School Rehearsal
Whole school at the TET Kings Theatre all day. If children live in town or you take them to school can they please be dropped off at the theatre at 8.30 and collected at 3.00. Mrs Hancock will be there from 8.00am.

Wednesday 28th November - Full Dress Rehearsal

Thursday 29th November Matinee - 12.30 Children and Grandparents are encouraged to attend this performance.
Matinee – 12.30pm.

Thursday 29th November Night Performance - 7.00pm
Room 6 will be expected to be at the TET Theatre at 6.00pm. All other rooms can arrive at 6.30pm. All children to be in their base costumes on arrival at the theatre.
At the end of the production parents will need to collect their children from the stage. We will explain the organisation for this on the night.

Door sales only - Tickets will be $5.00 and children under 5 no charge.
Thursday 29th November - Night Performance
Tickets will need to be prebooked. Each family will be allocated 3 tickets only. These must be purchased from the school office between 12th and 16th November. After this time any tickets not sold will be opened up for other families to purchase. If you would like to go on a waiting list to purchase extra tickets please contact the office.
If you require wheelchair access please contact the office so we can organise this for you.
CHILDRENS COSTUME REQUIREMENTS TO BRING FROM HOME
Room 1
Dance 1 - Little Orges Dance 2 - Princess and Princes
Girls - dress up type princess dress
Boys - jeans (blue or black) and plain white T-shirt collared if possible, short or long sleeved.
Room 2
Dance 1 - Sunflowers Dance 2 - Birds / Deer
Girls - Black t-shirt, black leggings
Boys - Black t-shirt, black shorts
Room 3
Dance 1 - Rats Dance 2 - Hearts
Girls: Black tights
Boy: Black Shorts
All: Short Sleeved plain black t-shirt
Room 4
Dance 1 - Townspeople
Girls: Black tights ¾ quarter or shorter length
Room 5
Dance 1 - Puppets Dance 2 - Blues Brothers
Bright coloured t-shirt
Long black pants
Sunglasses
Suspenders (bright colours if possible) but any will do
Blues brothers type hat if you have something.
The Year 7 and 8 costumes are mostly fairytale characters. If anyone has any of the following we would love to borrow it:

Cloak or cape
All children need to bring a named bag or pillowcase to school to keep their costumes in.
BYOD Parent Meeting
On Thursday the 22nd of November parents of Year 3 children, and anyone else that is interested, are invited to meet with Mrs Hancock to discuss our BYOD programme and hear about the different options available to them if they are interested in purchasing a device for their child. The meeting will be in Room 6 and will only be about 30 mins. I look forward to seeing you then.

SPORTS DESK
Fire Fighter Fitness Challenge - Years 5 - 8 - Sunday 25th November @ Stratford A&P Show
Students can compete in teams of 4 - Year 5 & 6, Year 7 & 8
Students will have to complete modified versions of the rural firefighter and toughest fire fighter competitions that are held the previous day.
Free entry for students - parents will have to pay entry fee to enter the showgrounds.

Weet-Bix Kids Tryatlon
This event is taking place in New Plymouth on Tuesday 26th March 2019. Entries are open now at try.weetbix.co.nz. Entry is open to anyone 7-15 years of age. You can either sign up as an individual, or with a friend in a team of two. Make sure you enter the Toko School group. Flyers are available from outside of the office.
B Grade Saturday Tennis
This will begin next weekend as they are still sorting teams for the competition.
NITS
ART WORKS/CALENDAR ART
Further artworks can now be ordered. Order forms are available from outside the office.
Calender's, diaries, mouse-pads, sketchpads all make great Christmas presents and will be here before the end of the year. These orders need to be to the classroom teacher by Thursday 15th November.

We are in the final stages of having this fully operational from the beginning of December. An updated description and map is available for viewing on our website and in the Daily News on Wednesday 7th November.

Working Bee at the Toko School House
The school is going to have a working bee to clean up and paint some of the inside of the school house, on Saturday 17th of November and Sunday 2nd December Please let Julie Roberts know if you can help out for a few hours ph 021 193 0278 or 7622944. You don't have to stay all day but many hands make light work so even if you could come for an hour or two this would be appreciated.
