Donut Day Winners for October
Book It! Reading Program Updates
For November, we decided to encourage even more reading, we will make the following adjustments to our program, which runs from October through March.
1) Students need only log 20 days of the month to earn their free Pizza Hut personal pizza.
2) The total number of nights read by students in a classroom will work toward the Donut Day competition, not just the number of students who meet the nightly reading challenge. So, every single night that a student logs reading moves that classroom a step closer to winning Donut Day!
3) Students who meet the genre challenge will not only serve as a tie breaker for Donut Day, but will also earn "book bling" (a gem) for their ID tag.
Please join us in encouraging your children to read 20 minutes every night. Parents need to sign off on the reading log pages. Next reading logs are due on December 1.
PRIDE
Time With Friends
If you are looking for a dinner conversation starter, ask your kids who was in their Time for Friends group and what they learned about the other students. We are hopeful to see new friendships blossom!
This Is Our Story
Goodbye GaGa
Festivities in the Forum
We are in need of student musicians to play some holiday music for our Heavilin students as they come in to school during the weeks before our winter break.
Performers need to have taken private lessons for at least one year. Music will be performed in the forum area from 8:25 – 8:40 each day. Performers may play one to three songs. These songs should be ones that you have worked on with a private instructor or with an ensemble leader.
Students who are interested in participating as a performer may pick up an information letter and sign up form from Mrs. Ausema.
Lost and Found
From the Back of the Kitchen...

THANK YOU! The PTO would like to extend a thank you all around to our Heavilin Families! October was fun and busy. Thank you to all who helped with Trunk or Treat, Scholastic Book fair and October Hospitality! Our Trunk or Treat evening was a huge success with so many participants decorating trunks, donating goodies for the cake walk, preparing super creative pumpkins and by generously donating candy. Congrats Mrs. Bales and Miss Molnar with the highest donations – Popsicle party! Also, our Scholastic book fair was a success! Thank you to all the parents who donated their time to staff the book fair.
