The Alabama State Department of Education is requiring that all 11th grade students in the state of Alabama take the ACT plus Writing. All 11th graders will be taking the ACT at Buckhorn High School on Tuesday, April 11, 2023.
11th Grade: ACT plus Writing Test
9th/10th/12th Grade: eLearning Day
8:00 AM: All juniors will report to their assigned testing room. Students will line up outside the room to have their picture ID checked. All personal belongings (except an approved calculator) will be left in the hallway. Cellular devices will be collected and stored in the guidance office.
If your student would like to check out after testing, he/she must turn in a completed check-out form by Monday, April 10. The form can be emailed to bhsattendance@mcssk12.org, faxed to 256-851-3301, or a hardcopy can be turned into the attendance office.

HOSA DAY
Thank you to the UAH College of Nursing for hosting our students for Spring HOSA day. Students were able to participate in a telehealth exercise, Bed Lab, physical examinations of the ear and eye, and more. Thank you again to the nurses and staff of UAH College of Nursing for the experience and information about the program.

2023 - 2024 CULINARY REGISTRATION
We are taking Culinary (food) fees for the 2023-2024 school year. *This class is for UPCOMING juniors and seniors only. The fee is $40.00 for the Culinary (food) classes. Students who qualify for Free/Reduced Lunch can pick up a Fee Waiver Form in the Main Office. The first 150 students who pay the $40.00 fee, or turn in a completed Fee Waiver Form to the Main Office, will secure a spot in the Culinary class for the 2023-2024 school year.

Join us for our annual Coffee and Cake Dessert Cabaret on April 6. This informal concert is a fun evening consisting of student solo, duets, and trios of popular movie and Broadway songs. Seniors:
It is time for you to turn in your scholarship awards to Mr. Schwanke. Please turn in any scholarships that you have received even if you are not planning on attending the institution that offered you the scholarship. You will be recognized only for the college/university that you will be attending. Please include any church or organizational scholarships as well. Do not wait until the last minute if you know what school you will be attending and have received a scholarship please turn it in now.

T.O.C. ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Every year the Athlete of the Year campaign, powered by Huntsville Hospital Sports Center,
TOC Sports and D1 Sports, looks for high school senior student athletes who excel
on the field, in the classroom and in our community.
From August to April, a panel of judges selects one Athlete of the Week. Applicants must be a high school senior, have a minimum GPA of 3.5 and display a history of athletic and academic accomplishments, as well as community/civic involvement.
At the end of the school year, all weekly winners are invited to a banquet held in their honor.
Two students are selected as Athletes of the Year and will each receive a $1,000 scholarship.

MCSS Safe Schools Tip Line is an anonymous reporting hotline designed for students and parents to safely and quickly report any type of potential safety concern towards an individual or school. The goal of this tip line is to provide an extra measure of safety for students and parents as they report incidents involving students on or off campus.
By dialing or texting 256.536.8355, someone could possibly save the life of another. You may also email your concerns to 256TELL@madisoncountyal.gov.
This reporting hotline is monitored 24/7 by the Madison County Sheriff’s Department. All reports are forwarded to the School Resource Officer(s) who is assigned to the respective school. The school administration may be contacted as well.

Sign Up to Round Up!
The Round Up Program was started by The Schools Foundation and Huntsville Utilities to support local public school systems. The Schools Foundation is a funding partner of Madison County Schools. The more residential and commercial locations that round up, the more funding we can receive. Estimates show that if just half of the residential Huntsville Utilities users rounded up, it would generate approximately $500,000 to support our schools! By rounding up your utility bill to the nearest dollar each month, you help invest in the future of our students!

PARKING FINES

- Sophomore or Junior parking in a senior parking spot
PARKING INFORMATION:
Students who drive on campus must have a parking sticker on the vehicle they drive on campus. Students must also park in the student parking lots behind the cafeteria & football field or by the baseball field. Students are not allowed to back into a parking spot. Students are also not allowed to park in faculty parking spots or any other spots that are not designated as student parking. Fines will be issued to any student who does not follow these procedures.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Students may come to the MAIN OFFICE to pick up a Vehicle Registration Card (blue card) to complete and get signed by a parent before purchasing a sticker. Students must also bring a photocopy of their Driver’s License, Insurance Card, and vehicle tag. *Digital files cannot be accepted at this time.
