Congratulations Rocky's Winners!
Each day at school, a Rocky’s Wall of Fame sticker is given to at least 10 different students when recognized for meeting expectations for being Respectful, Responsible, and/or Safe. When students receive a Rocky’s Wall of Fame sticker, they are called at the end of the day to the board outside the office to select a randomly numbered star. Their name is then written on that star and placed on the board in the numbered space that corresponds with the number on the star. When 10 stars line up in a row (horizontally, vertically or diagonally), the ten students whose stars are in that row win a reward. The board is then cleared and we begin filling it again. We were super excited to hit a few different rows of 10 stars this week! Congratulations to those winning students! We continue to be proud of so many students who make good choices!
Congratulations to the following students:
- Nolan Koch
- Catherine White
- Michael Gaft
- Charlie Mackowski
- Gus Rizza
- Lucy Fang
- Liam DeLaura
- Luca Priori
- Lola Iannucci
- CeCe Routh
- Liam Perry
Congratulations to our staff winner, Ms. Rosenblatt!

Congratulations to our Goodnoe artists Fiona Rosocha and Olivia Reynolds for being honored at last night's school board meeting! Fiona's artwork will travel to each school in Council Rock District in the Gallery at the Rock this school year. Olivia, now a 7th grader at Newtown Middle, has her artwork on display at the Chancellor Center. Thank you Fiona and Olivia for representing Goodnoe so well with your incredible artwork!
Sixth Grade celebrates Egyptian Culture
On Thursday, March 16th, the sixth graders at Goodnoe Elementary traveled back in time to experience ancient Egypt’s culture. This event broadened the 6th graders knowledge and served as a culminating activity of their studies of ancient Egypt. Each student decorated a large sarcophagus, dressed in Egyptian attire, and participated in a variety of activities including playing the game of Senet, testing their knowledge with Egyptian trivia, paying tribute to King Tut with an Egyptian dance, and making Mummy dolls. All of the students enjoyed learning more about life in Ancient Egypt.
Students at Goodnoe Elementary Celebrate Pi Day
This past Tuesday, March 14 was Pi Day, and students at Goodnoe Elementary School celebrated this mathematical holiday in their classrooms in many ways. The 6th-graders participated in a Pi-Digit Competition. Pictured are the sixth-grade students who memorized the most digits of Pi. Evan French won first place for reciting the first 240 digits of Pi!
The First in Math March Madness Tournament
The First in Math March Madness Tournament commenced this week at Goodnoe Elementary School. Across grades one through five, the top-64 First in Math students in the school competed in the first round of the tournament which involved solving addition problems accurately and quickly. Sixth-grade helpers were instrumental in making the tournament run smoothly. The 32 winners from this week will compete in subtraction during the second round of the tournament next week. Great job to all students who qualified for the March Madness First in Math Tournament! See pictures below!

NOVA VISITS WITH 5th & 6TH GRADES
This week students in 5th and 6th grade participated in NOVA’s iSmart lessons. Information about technology safety and cyberbully prevention was shared. On March 24th, students in sixth grade will learn about the impact of their digital footprint. Handouts were provided to students. Be sure to ask your child to share with you!
Grade 6/March 24th
►Digital Footprint
NOVA’s Digital Footprint explores privacy in the digital world and promotes critical thinking regarding how digital content is potentially viewed and stored. Students apply this information in scenario activities designed to foster empathy and encourage responsible and respectful decision making.

This link provides general Summer Academy information for families of those students who recently received invitations for participation.
SAVE THE DATE!

iRun4Life - 4TH, 5TH, & 6TH GRADE STUDENTS
We will be opening registration for iRun4Life next week. iRun4Life is a fun, noncompetitive running program designed to promote fitness and healthy lifestyles with children. iRun4Life focuses on exercise, healthy nutrition, and doing good deeds in our community. Training will start Wednesday April 12, 2023 with our goal race being the iRun4Life Kids Only 3K on Sunday May 21, 2023 in Doylestown. We will combine dynamic warm ups, relay races, endurance running and discussions about healthy nutrition. Running is not only healthy for your child’s physical health. Running can help improve mental health by reducing stress and anxiety, and improve mood and sleep. It is also a wonderful way to spend time with friends outdoors. The program is open to all 4th, 5th and 6th grade Goodnoe students. We will also need parent volunteers to help the program run smoothly. We will be sending out more information about the iRun4Life soon. If you have any questions, please contact Stephanie Rothrock at srothrock@crsd.org.

SCHOOL BREAKFAST & LUNCH INFORMATION
The March breakfast and lunch menus are available on the homepage of the GES website, the menus website and buttons below. To avoid confusion, be sure to review the meal options with your child each day.
ARRIVAL TO SCHOOL TIME
I would like to send a friendly reminder about arrival time to school which is 8:45 a.m. When children arrive earlier than that time, there may be no adults outside to supervise the children. Specifically, some students who walk to school are arriving prior to 8:45 a.m. and they are left alone with cars driving through the parking lot. Adhering to this arrival time helps to maintain safety. Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter.
Counselor's Corner
There are many reasons to monitor your child’s text messages and social media. It helps to keep them safe and ensure they are using their devices responsibly. Since so much of kids' lives happens on devices, we need to keep tabs on whether their relationships are healthy, whether the content they're seeing is age-appropriate, and even when they're using their phones if it is late at night when they should be sleeping. If your child is using text messaging or social media inappropriately, he or she may not be mature enough to handle the responsibility of having a cell phone or other device yet. We will be reviewing cyberbullying and appropriate use of social media and online communication in 5th and 6th grade classrooms.
FROM THE GOODNOE P.E. DEPARTMENT
Check out this amazing opportunity for our students to extend the bowling unit that we completed in classes outside the classroom through the Kids Bowl Free program! Click on the link https://www.kidsbowlfree.com/index.php and select your location to receive the card--the closest participating bowling lanes are located in Warminster and Philadelphia (2 locations).
A Note from the School Nurse
This a reminder to all parents/guardians that elementary students are not able to self-carry ANY medication including cough drops among other over the counter cold/allergy remedies.
Please refer to the CRSD website/handbook which states:
Students MAY NOT CARRY any form of prescription or nonprescription “over-the-counter drugs” with them during school. This is a violation of District policy that will result in disciplinary action.
WE ARE NOW ACCEPTING 2023-2024 REGISTRATIONS
Online Registration: The Council Rock School District utilizes a secure online portal for a parent(s) to enroll their child(ren). Please ensure you have all required documents ready before starting the enrollment process below. The application functions best in the Chrome browser on a desktop or laptop. Please be aware that June 1st is the deadline to guarantee placement in home school.
Your child is NOT registered until all documents have been received, reviewed by central registration, and the final registration document has been signed by the parent.
CRSD CELL PHONE/SMART WATCH POLICY
This is a reminder that all Electronic Devices are against our District Policy. Even if text/phone usage is disabled on these devices, many still have the capability of taking photos & accessing the internet, etc. As a result, they are not permitted to be worn during the school day. All electronic devices should be turned off and remain in backpacks if they are brought to school.
Excerpt from CRSD/GES Parent Handbook
The use of cell phones by students is prohibited during the school day or on the school bus (Section 1317.1 PA School Code). Students, who possess cell phones, must secure them in their backpacks/schoolbags throughout the school day, turned off, not silent or vibrate. This eliminates unnecessary interruptions to instruction.
Students may not use cell phones during lunch, recess or breaks. Cell phones are to remain off during the school day, including the school bus. In the event a student uses a cell phone (calling, texting, photographing or otherwise) or the phone rings, during the school day, the student will be asked to turn the cell phone off before releasing to staff. Following, the cell phone should be picked up by a parent/guardian/designated adult at their earliest convenience, in the main office during school hours. The Council Rock School District assumes no responsibility for cell phones or other electronic devices that are lost, stolen or broken.
2023 PSSA DATES

The PSSA 2022 testing dates are as follows:
ELA – Tuesday, April 25th – Thursday, April 27th
Math – Tuesday, May 2nd and Wednesday, May 3rd
Science – Thursday, May 4th and Friday, May 5th
HUMAN GROWTH & DEVELOPMENT GRADES 4-6
As part of the yearly health curriculum, students in fourth, fifth, and sixth grades receive instruction on human growth and development during the second semester of the 2022-2023 school year. Classes will be taught by the Physical Education teacher; Ms. Potash or Mrs. McGill. The school nurse will be available for any follow-up questions. We understand that these can be difficult conversations to have with your children, but they are of great importance to our children’s health.
Additional resources for parents are provided in the attached letter under the grade level topics if you are looking to further these conversations at home. Please click on the button below to review this letter.
SCHOOL WIDE POSITIVE BEHAVIOR SUPPORT
During the past few weeks, your child’s class has been reviewing the SW-PBIS (School Wide- Positive Behavior Interventions & Support) school expectations. The lessons included a class discussion, modeling and practicing of respectful, responsible, and safe behaviors in the locations listed on the school-wide matrix. Your child’s class also learned about the voice levels that are expected for the different locations. Please take some time to review the matrix and voice level chart with your child. Our school website has a SW-PBIS link with more specific information regarding the structure of Goodnoe’s School Wide Positive Interventions & Support system. Check out more information at the links below.
FAMILY TRIP FORMS
Click the following LINK for the form to be completed for Family Educational Trips. Handwritten letters are accepted, however this form is preferred. Please be sure to submit the form/letter at least ten (10) days prior to your trip, for approval. This can be sent to school with your child or emailed electronically to Mrs. Susan Bogucki at SBogucki@CRSD.org
DOGS/PETS ON SCHOOL GROUNDS
When escorting students to and from school, please do not bring pets on school grounds or into the school building. Many of our children have pet allergies or are afraid of animals; therefore, the presence of animals in school or on school grounds is prohibited. Some classes at Goodnoe Elementary School do participate in the Nor’Wester Reading Dogs program, so on occasion you may see dogs visiting. These dogs are specially trained and licensed to work in the schools with students. No other animals are permitted on school property during school hours. Please refer to our board policy for more information on animals in school policy 718 https://go.boarddocs.com/pa/coun/Board.nsf/vpublic?open#
