Message From the Principal
Greetings from California!
I'm sending you my weekly message from the AVID National Conference in California. I am here in sunny San Diego with my awesome AVID teacher, Mrs. Meredith Tongue, and the AVID teachers from Crabapple Middle School. The experience of being with such a dynamic group of educators has me excited about bringing more strategies into our building to move student learning to a higher level.
I have exciting news to share. Elkins Pointe made the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement (GOSA) list of the top 30 schools to Beat the Odds for the 2017-18 academic year. The hard work and dedication of students, teachers, and staff contribute greatly to the reason our school continues to be recognized by the Georgia Department of Education (GADOE). There are many schools in the state of Georgia selected for recognition based on a complex calculation which includes CCRPI, and Climate rating. We are honored to be one of the top 30 schools selected from the over 100 schools in our district. Also, Elkins Pointe is one of only five middle schools selected. Other schools in our cluster being recognized by GOSA include Roswell HS, Amana Academy, Mimosa ES, and Vickery Mill ES. To read the article, click HERE.
Parents, please make an impact by giving your feedback to GADOE by taking a short 3-minute survey. Full parent participation means a lot to the state. Click HERE to take the Georgia Parent Survey for the School Year 2018-2019.
I am looking forward to getting back to seeing my Titan family and I am hoping the weather does not delay my flight or school on Monday! As of now, Fulton County is not included in the winter storm watch. Please know the District's Weather Team will be monitoring carefully over the weekend and should the forecast change, you will be sent a notification.
Sincerely,
Kindra L. Smith, Ed.S

With that being said, I wanted to take a moment to extend an invitation to you and your students to attend our annual Magnet Open house.
