PRINCIPAL'S NOTES AND HIGHLIGHTS

Happy Friday!

You may recognize a few familiar faces in the background of this week's newsletter. I snapped this picture at Author's Night, which was hosted by ViewPoint Books this past Wednesday. A very neat event that showcased our 5th & 6th grade students.

Speaking of pictures, Hannah Ousley (Kindergarten) demanded her dad send me this photo of her showing school spirit! Go Huskies!

Lincoln has talent! I really enjoyed the showcase hosted by the 6th graders on Thursday. All grades were represented. A special thanks to Lucy Nyffeler, Hana Kleinhenz, and Haley Kleinhenz for organizing the event. I have put pictures and video of our participants at the bottom of the newsletter.

Project Updates

  • Our Kindergarten classes are continuing to learn about insects. They have praying mantis egg cases in between their classrooms and are waiting for them to hatch out tiny mantises.
  • First grade is working on teaming up with the Mill Race Center for their next project. They will be learning more about their needs and how they can help in the coming weeks.
  • Second graders are on their final stages of their Genius Hour projects. They are completing their research paper, putting together their presentation and will begin working on their speeches next week. The final presentations will take place on April 19th and 21st in the Red Room at the Bartholomew County Public Library.
  • Third graders finished up their week with a trip to the landfill/wetlands.
  • Fourth graders have begun working on their next project, the Big Blue Football Camp coming to CSA Lincoln this month. Permission waivers should have gone home with your students. Please return those as soon as possible.
  • Fifth graders are finishing up their Treasures project with their Author Night at Viewpoint Books this week. Great job on all the hard work our student authors put in on this project.
  • Sixth grade students organized a talent show of CSA Lincoln students this Thursday. All their hard work and efforts helped raise money for their upcoming Chicago trip.

Bus Safety

Please be careful and use the crosswalks when exiting the campus with your student. Over the past couple of weeks we have had a few parents dart between buses with their student to cross the street. Because of the recent bus tragedy, drivers must now shut off their buses when loading/unloading students. Several of our bus drivers have still voiced concerns about being unable to see between the buses.

While a minor inconvenience, please utilize the crosswalks and crossing guards.

Safety first!
