From our library:
Miss Thompson would LOVE to have parent volunteers in the library this year. So, if anyone is missing their kids so much they don't know what to do with your time or if you love being around books, or if you just want to help out, please contact the school and we will set it up.
Does your family qualify for the Migrant Education Program? You may be surprised.
Below is a general description of what it takes to qualify. (I will also include an image of the actual survey.) If your family does qualify (I know this has been a tough fishing season) there may be benefits to your child such as access to free books, lunch, or tutoring. If you think you might qualify and haven't filled out a migrant family survey, please stop by the school or call and we will be sure to give you a form.
Generally, migrant families travel in order to participate in fishing activities – both commercial and subsistence. Students travel with their families for a total of 7 nights and 8 days (need not be consecutive), and over a distance of 20 miles. Families must also verify that the fishing activity is an economic necessity.
