Nutrition Services Week!
This week is Nutrition Services Week,
thank you to Miss. Melannie and Miss. Morrision in our
Central Avenue Kitchen for always taking great care of our students during breakfast and lunch times.
We would also like to acknowledge all the great
Nutrition staff in our District.
We appreciate all you do!
National Anti-Bullying Month
October is National Anti-Bullying month, and we will be having a poster contest again, similar to what we have done that past couple of years. We will start it this week, and announce the winners on World Kindness Day, which is November 13th. Please see below for more information:
- Poster/poem contest: starting this week, students can submit a poster or poem/writing about kindness and respect. A small amount of poster paper and some information to give to students will be put in teacher boxes tomorrow. Any posters depicting violence or fighting will not be accepted. The purpose is more on Kindness and how we should treat others, rather than bullying itself.
- Unity Day: Wednesday, October 23rd is Unity Day, which is a national day to promote awareness around the topic of bullying. For more info visit https://www.pacer.org/bullying/nbpm/unity-day.asp. To recognize this day we will encourage everyone (including staff!) to wear the color orange, and teachers will receive talking points to discuss with their classrooms during your community circle time.

End of Day Student Transportation Changes
Just a reminder to please call the school before 3:30 pm and on early release days please call before 1:30 pm when your child's end of day schedule needs to be changed.
This allows us time to notify your child's teacher and your child of the change for a smooth end of day transition.
Please call our office at 253-298-3200 to report end of day changes.
Attendance Matters
You have always known that good attendance contributes to successful students, but this year we have some very important new procedures, which need to be followed:
1. Good attendance is to miss 9 or fewer days per year (average one per month).
2. After 7 absences, we will require third party documentations (doctor notes, dentist
appt, court hearing, etc.) to excuse the absence. Please get in the habit of getting a
note for any appointments, even before you hit that threshold.
3. We will contact you for a conference if your child has 3 unexcused absences, or 5
absences in a month (excused or unexcused.)
4. Chronic absenteeism is more than 18 days in a school year.
I want to encourage all our Wildcats to be at school ON TIME, EVERY DAY, ALL DAY!
**Please contact the attendance line at 253-298-3200, if your student is going to be late or absent from school.
VOLUNTEERS!! We Need You
Volunteers!
Volunteer Approval is Necessary– Prior to attending any school event as a chaperone, participant, or helper, all adults must have a new approved volunteer clearance on file in our office. There will be no exceptions to this requirement. You must register online at www.fpschools.org. If you have a problem with the registration process, please call Ms. Lynn at 253-298-3205. We appreciate your cooperation with our extra efforts to assure that our students are safe and supervised appropriately.
