GREEK LIFE
Spring 2014
The Office of Greek Life at West Virginia Wesleyan is committed to establishing and maintaining an effective relationship with our alumni by providing services to meet their interest. In this newsletter, you will find information to keep you updated, connected, and informed.
Greek Week: A Tradition of Unity
The Greek Week committee has already revamped the schedule. Members are already feeling the challenge and teams are focusing in on the core, heart wrenching games that are quickly approaching. Don't miss out on the intense fun and competition this year! The Office of Greek Life would like to invite any alumni near the Buckhannon area or joining in on Spring Weekend events to come out and support the Greek community!
(Schedule to be posted in the coming week.)
Spring Sing
Spring Sing will be held on April 12th at 7:00 PM in the Chapel. If you want to fit in at the event, you may want to dress with stirrup pants, overalls, or skorts, Doc Martens or Airwalks, and of course fabulous accessories like scrunchies, slap bracelets, and mood rings. Oh, and don't forget; you may be asked to turn your pager on silent during the show.
Have a quick flashback now:
GREEK MAN AND WOMAN OF THE YEAR
Each year the Greek Community honors two of their own with the Greek Man/Woman of the year awards. These awards are given to the individuals who best represent the Greek community in their own chapter and throughout campus. Each of the nominees have played a significant role in furthering the Greek system and they are often considered the "face" of Greek Life.
The Greek Woman of the Year the nominees were Emma Turner from Alpha Delta Pi, Kyra Waugh from Alpha Gamma Delta, Anne Harman from Alpha Xi Delta, and Jenna Plummer from Zeta Tau Alpha. Each of these individuals have all served as chapter President and maintains excellent academic standards. We would like to congratulate Emma Turner, a Psychology major from Clarksburg, WV, as Greek Woman of the Year 2014. She was active as Alumnae Relations Chair, Recruitment Vice President, and President in Gamma Kappa Chapter of Alpha Delta Pi. Emma said, "Greek life at Wesleyan has been a wonderful experience for me. I've made lifelong friends and developed many leadership skills that will be beneficial to me in my journey after graduation. Through Greek life I have been given so many opportunities and experiences that have greatly influenced my growth as a student and a leader, and for that I will always be thankful."
The Greek Man of the Year nominees were Zach Howard from Kappa Alpha Order and Andy Kall from Theta Chi. Both individuals have served their chapter as President and have continued to maintain an open door policy to officers needing advise or help with a task. Andy Kall is a 5 year MBA student, communication student, and this year's Greek Man of the Year. He is a member of Theta Chi fraternity, where he has serve in numerous leadership positions including President, Standards Chair and Public Relations. Andy also has served as the Greek Life Intern, Greek Life PR Chair and a member of IFC. Overall, being a part of Greek life has allowed Andy to maximize his fun here at Wesleyan by meeting lifelong friends and making lasting memories.
The Office of Greek Life would like to congratulate Andy and Emma and thank them for all the many experiences you have supported in the Greek community.
