Meadowbrook News

From Mrs. Sawatzky
Good afternoon Meadowbrook,
The students and I are warmed up for Run Meadowbrook Run tomorrow! I had such a great time running with them on Wednesday and dancing with them today. And the fun continues next week with classroom popcorn parties and other surprises!
It is bittersweet that I share with you that Mrs. Erdal has decided to retire after this school year. Mrs. Erdal has been teaching PE at Meadowbrook for the past 19 years (34 with Hopkins!) and will be greatly missed. We wish her all the best in her retirement! Additionally, Mr. Bell and his family have decided to move to Qatar! He'll continue to teach 1st grade there and I just know that the children (and their parents) will love him as much as we have. Keshan Singh who has served as our Data Specialist this year will also be moving from Meadowbrook, but not quite as far. Mr. Keshan will transition to a Districtwide position serving all Hopkins schools. We wish all of our staff moving on the best of luck in their new adventures!
I also wanted to bring to your attention that we will no longer be holding google meets for students who need to quarantine. Thankfully, the number of students needing to do so has decreased! A HUGE thank you to Mrs. Kornmann and Mrs. Pakenham for hosting these meets which became a bright spot for students who had to miss school.
And finally, the news you've all been waiting for... the children have spoken (yelled and cheered) and I am the proud winner of the Principal Dance Off!
In partnership,
Natalie

END OF YEAR MEDICATION REMINDER
Please pick up any unused over-the-counter or prescription medication(s) that your child has in the health office by the last day of school, Friday, June 3rd. Medication cannot be sent home with students. By school district policy we are required to discard/ destroy all remaining medication by June 6th. The school cannot store any medication for the following school year.
If your child is attending Kids and Company this summer here at Meadowbrook, you will still need to pick up the medications and bring them to Kids and Company the first day of summer break. This includes all emergency medications. They will require you to fill out paperwork to administer the medications while attending their program.
Thank you for your cooperation in maintaining a safe environment for our students. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the school health office at 952-988-5104.

6th Grade Caregivers
Hello 6th grade families! Check out the website for the 6th grade brunch and picnic on the last day of school! This will be the place to go to stay up-to-date on plans, ways to volunteer, and your number one place to donate! The event is largely dependent on your donations that will go towards things such as making sure every 6th grader receives a T-shirt and we're really hoping to raise enough to have their lunch catered, plus brunch and DJ. This event is 100% donation driven, donate this week, if you can! Let's make this a day they'll never forget!

COVID-19 Updates
Hopkins Public Schools COVID-19 Dashboard remains live on our website. Please remember to have your child complete a daily health screening every day before attending school. It is very important that you keep your child home if they are experiencing any signs of illness.
Please note, our isolation and quarantine protocols have changed. We have shortened our isolation requirements to a five-day protocol for students who meet the requirements. You can review the changes here.
Testing
While supplies last, we will continue our weekly saliva testing program for scholars and staff. Due to an Omicron subvariant and spring travel, we’re seeing an increase in cases. We have plenty of rapid test kits for our scholars’ and families’ use. If you want a test kit, even for peace of mind, please see your school nurse or main office and ask for one.
