Monk Fryston Weekly News 5.11.21

The school target for next week is 'Remember to move safely and sensibly in and around school'

Macmillan Coffee Afternoon

Many thanks for all your generous (and delicious!) donations for our recent Year 6 Macmillan Coffee Afternoon. It was lovely to see so many of our families and friends gathering together to support this wonderful charity. We are super-proud of our Year 6s, who did an amazing job of hosting this fabulous event. Everyone’s efforts resulted in our school raising an incredible £807 to help support people living with cancer. Many thanks once again for your tremendous support.

PTA Halloween Event

Thank you to everyone who supported the PTA event for Halloween. We know that children really enjoyed this, and we raised over £500 which are valuable funds for our school.

Children In Need 19.11.21

Children In Need is back for 2021 and, here at Monk Fryston, we will be getting involved as usual. This year, we are hosting a ‘Fancy Dress Friday’ and ask children to pay a minimum donation of £1 to take part. Please make your donation via this link https://app.parentpay.com/ParentPayShop/Foc/Default.aspx?shopid=3749

Whether it’s a favourite book character, actor, musician, dancer or even just wearing some cute Pudsey ears… anything goes! We will be spreading the message that together, we can have fun and change lives in every corner of the UK. Please help us to support this wonderful cause and have fun at the same time.

Christmas Dinner 15.12.21

Christmas Dinner will be on Wednesday 15th December. Booking for lunch will be sent out by email very soon, please pay for a standard school dinner on ParentPay (£2.30)

PTA Christmas Raffle

We plan to hold another of our infamous Christmas raffles at the end of term and would welcome any donations. If you have anything to offer, please can you send it to school with your child and we will put it to one side until the event. Many thanks in advance.

School Development Plan

Our school development plan for this academic year has now been agreed by governors. We will have 3 priorities – Further improving learning and outcomes in English; Enhancing safeguarding and wellbeing; and Supporting effective parental engagement. Obviously, the plan has a large number of actions that we hope to complete by the end of the year, and we believe that introducing new ideas into these core areas will make a positive change in our school.

Learning Review Meetings

Don’t forget that our learning review meetings will take place online next week. It is really important that teachers have conversations with parents of all the children in their class, so please do try to ensure that the appointment is kept.

Poppy Appeal

We are selling poppies and other merchandise, see photo below for suggested donations. If children want to purchase anything please send your donation in a sealed envelope with their name and year group on the front.
