Learn, Lead, Succeed - Together...............September 2015

Dear Methacton Community,

Last week we opened our doors to thousands of excited students as another successful school year begins in the Methacton School District. While our buildings and campuses are always full of activity throughout the summer, the energy of the first week of school is second to none!

As the year begins, I encourage you to have conversations with your children about setting goals for the new school year. Help them set expectations for what will be accomplished, and encourage your children to get involved, try something new, and make new friends.

Members of my administrative team and I will be attending Back to School night activities in the coming weeks, so please introduce yourself and say hello. I look forward to meeting as many of our families as I can throughout the school year.

The 2015-2016 school year will bring with it changes and opportunities. The Methacton School District will be undertaking a comprehensive strategic planning process and will be seeking community participation, the High School campus is transforming with the soon to be completed athletic fields project, and the new Pennsylvania Core State Standards will be a source of transition for students and teachers to this more rigorous curriculum. Most importantly, the drive of our students to achieve and the support from our parents and our community in this educational partnership with teachers and principals enable all of us to spread our Methacton Pride.

Thank you for your continued support of our schools. As Superintendent of Schools, I wish you and your children a school year filled with success as we learn, lead, and succeed – together!

Dr. David Zerbe
Superintendent of Schools

School Board Update

In early 2014-2015, the Methacton School Distirct's Board of School Directors launched a monthly e-newsletter designed to provide all constituents of the Methacton School District with a review of the ongoing work of their Board .

All Methacton families receive an emailed link of the newsletter via SchoolMessenger, and members of the community who are registered at www.methacton.org receive the newsletter through e-alerts. A link also appears on Methacton's Twitter newsfeed and Facebook page, as well as the homepage of the website. If you are not receiving this newsletter and wish to have your email address added, please complete the short survey at www.methacton.org/updatesignup.

Stay in the Loop - Learn about the many ways Methacton communicates.

Methacton employs varied methods to keep families informed throughout the school year. While having multiple tools to communicate is beneficial, the variety can be overwhelming - especially for families new to the district.

A short animated video has been created to introduce and outline some of these methods, in an effort to eliminate confusion and help families prepare for the new school year.
