Congratulations to Special Education Teacher, Kelsie Sheets!

Kelsie Sheets has been honored by the Iowa Schools Social Worker's Association with the Friend of Children Award. Kelsie was nominated for this award thanks to the dedication and devotion she shows while working alongside students with disabilities, both in the school and in the community.

A letter supporting the nomination recognized that Kelsie "goes above and beyond to assist students in their academic, emotional and behavior needs. Kelsie has taken her passion for students with disabilities and transferred it to her personal life, with the creation of her non-profit organizatio, Launching Arrows...she supports all students and staff in a selfless and compassionate way."

We are so thankful to have Kelsie sharing her passion for students at Pella Middle School!

Student Council Hosts Fall Fest

Student Council hosted a Fall Fest on Friday, November 16, raising money to adopt a family through Crossroads this holiday season. Close to $770 was donated! The money will be used to purchase a bike, clothing, blankets, toys and gift cards for food for the family. The student council would like to thank all of those who generously donated to the Fall Fest as well as volunteered their time to chaperone.

Quarter one Club Day was a success, and we are planning for a quarter two reward day already. There are pictures to the side and below of a few of the clubs in which students participated. Quarter two will once again require students to have all of their work complete before they can participate in this reward for their hard work over the course of the quarter. Students were informed early in the quarter of the requirements to participate in the quarter two reward day in January, which are below:

  • 0-1 missing assignments = No Executive Function Lesson + Coupon
  • 2-4 missing assignments = No Executive Function Lesson and NO Coupon
  • 5-9 Two Executive Function Lessons
  • 10+ Two Exec Function Lessons and Not Attend Club Day
