Site Council
This year we will focus on SOAR. SOAR ("Show respect, On time/on task, Act safe, Reach your best") is our school-wide expectations system, and it's been in place for many years. Just like all school-wide systems, we want to check in every 5-10 years to see how well it's working. Our Site Council's goal will be to use this year to get feedback from staff, families, and students about our school-wide expectations and how to revamp them for future years. If you have strong opinions about positive behavioral intervention and supports, this is the group for you!
We will meet once a month, and I will let the group decide how and when we meet. In person or virtual? Right after school or in the evening? I want the time to work for as many people as possible, especially working families. Ideally, we will have at least three family members on our Site Council.
Interested? Send me an email! You can reach me at ggregoricka@pps.net. And in order to best represent our student body, I strongly encourage parents of students of color and parents of students with disabilities to reach out.

First PTA Meeting--Save the Date
Please mark your calendars and save the date for the first PTA General Meeting of the year: Monday, September 18, 6-8pm. Here you will learn all about what the PTA does for our school, ways to stay connected and get involved, and meet other families, committee members and leaders! Everyone is welcome, whether this is your very first one or you’ve been to them all. So even if you’re just a little bit curious about what this PTA stuff is all about, we encourage you to come!
Free dinner and childcare are provided. Dinner (for children and adults) runs from 6:00-6:30, with the meeting beginning at 6:30. Childcare runs the whole time, so feel free to bring your kiddos!
PTA/PPS Clothing Volunteers Needed
Located at the Marshall High School campus, the PTA/PPS Clothing Center is a volunteer-run closet of donated clothing. Irvington students and all students enrolled in PPS who are in need of clothing can visit the closet once before winter break and once after winter break. It’s all free.
Twice per year, each participating school is responsible for staffing the clothing closet. Our day is coming up: Thursday, September 28, from 9:30am-1:30pm. We need 6 volunteers to help with setting out inventory and accompanying families while they shop. Click here to learn more and sign up. For questions, please contact Jessica Farley at ptavp@irvingtonschool.com.
After-School Classes and Scholarships <REPEAT>
Fall, Winter, and Spring Terms - an exciting array of after school classes are offered right at the school! A schedule of class offerings and information can be found in your welcome packet or online at https://www.irvingtonschool.com/afterschool/. Classes begin right after school, which means you don't have to be at the regular 3 o'clock pick up! These classes are provided by outside vendors, are fee-based (scholarships available!), and are optional. They are organized by the PTA, though provided as a resource and not endorsed by the school or by the PTA.
Scholarships are available and provided by the PTA! All students who qualify for free/reduced lunch also qualify for PTA scholarships. Each qualified student is eligible for a scholarship for ONE after school activity per term (one activity each: Fall, Winter, and Spring terms) for a total of 3 activities per year on a first-come first-served basis while funds last. Scholarship applications can be found online, or by clicking HERE. Please email scholarship@irvingtonschool.com with any questions.
Registration opens Monday, September 11! The class links at https://www.irvingtonschool.com/afterschool/ will go live at 11am or shortly thereafter. Please be patient and refresh your screen in case there is a few minutes lag time!
