Weekly Update 5/7/2020
Keeping us connected during the COVID-19 School Closure
Prinicipal's Post
Dear Trumbauersville Families,
I would like to start by saying a very heartfelt thank you for all of the kind messages that students and families have sent to our teachers and staff this week. We love our jobs and consider ourselves extremely fortunate to be able to work with Trumbauersville students each day! Receiving those messages this week has helped to brighten our virtual classrooms.
Effective May 8th, 24 counties in Pennsylvania will begin to reduce restrictions related to COVID-19. That is great news! That means that our collective perseverance to maintain the social distancing practices and the hard work of medical professionals is working. Bucks County and the southeastern region, however, continue to be under the stay at home order. Supporting that order continues to significantly limit our access to the Trumbauersville Elementary school building.
Our school and our district are working vigorously on plans for how to reunite students with their personal items that are at our school. From jackets to medicine to eyeglasses to pencil bags, there are many items in school that our students need. We are working with the Bucks County health officials on an appropriate process to connect those with the students. In addition, we are finalizing procedures for the virtual distribution of elementary report cards. Those report cards will encompass student progress through the first two trimesters. We will communicate these plans when they are complete.
While the grades are calculated in the first two trimesters, the learning continues during this third part of the school year. It is very important that students continue to participate in our school activities and continue to learn and grow! Understanding the many complexities that our families are working through, our district has made a commitment to not collect grades for elementary students this spring. However, it is critical that students do not have a large void in their academic learning. Our teachers and support staff continue to work diligently to create engaging and purposeful learning experiences for our students. May and June are key parts of the school year. These final weeks are the culmination of growth that students have made this year and they are a springboard for setting the students up for success for next year!
Lastly, it is my hope that everyone makes time in their day to get outside and take advantage of that beautiful weather, as much as they can. Even though we are accessing our school via a virtual setting, it continues to be important for children to limit their screen time. While computers are needed for accessing assignments and submitting assignments and for Google Meets in between, I encourage everyone to do as much work away from the screen as possible. Perhaps the draft of the work can be handwritten and then the final copy of the work can be submitting it digitally.
Thank you all for your continued Compassion, Perseverance, and Respect.

From the Counseling Office:
So what can we do to help manage these emotions and move toward the ultimate goal of acceptance? Understanding and recognizing the different stages of grief listed in the image above is a great place to begin. It is also important to understand that these stages will not necessarily occur in a linear pattern. It is normal to experience these stages in waves, so we must remember to recognize these feelings for what they are and to experience them accordingly. (Remember, it's okay to not be okay!)
Lastly, it is important to practice mindfulness and to stay in the present moment. Let go of the "what-ifs" and the things that are outside of our control, and to always practice compassion, towards others but most importantly, to ourselves, as we continue to work through and make the best of this unprecedented situation.
Please check out the two links below for more information regarding the grief process and COVID-19, and as always, do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns. Be well!

To parents/guardians whose child’s medication/treatment supplies remain in school.
Please understand that, at this time, the nurses do not have access to the health rooms and are not distributing student mediation or supplies to parents. At some point, however, we are hoping to return all remaining supplies back to parents. In order to plan for this, if your child’s medication/treatment supplies are school, please reach out to me before May 15th with your up-to-date contact information (parent/guardian name, phone number/e-mail, child's name and type of medication). Then, when the opportunity presents itself, we can efficiently distribute all remaining student medical supplies. Remember, we currently do not have any date in the near future when the nurses can return these supplies. However, once a plan has been established to return these items, we will contact you through the information that you have provided to us.
