Did You Know?
- Many of you have started receiving compliance alerts from the ECATS system, this will continue until the noncompliant items on your school headcount have been resolved. As stated above, one of the glitches may be that students referred to in the notification you are receiving were merged from PowerSchool and may not be in attendance at your school. Please ignore these messages until after the 10th day of school. At that point, ECATS should be accurate with only our current students showing. If you receive alerts after the 10th day of school, then please reach out to Sheree Manus (sheree.manus@cabarrus.k12.nc.us) if you are unable to determine what is noncompliant in your building.
As you know, with the new mathematics EOG administered for the 2018-2019 school year, there will be new academic achievement levels for reporting our students’ performance. This summer 100 teachers from districts across the state convened July 8-11thto review the mathematics content standards and expectations. Teachers then used this feedback to recommend academic achievement levels. The recommendations will be presented to the State Board of Education August 7th. Once achievement levels are approved by the Board, districts will be able to provide students’ test scores, achievement levels, and explanations. The reporting will be based on four academic levels: Level 2 and Below, Level 3, Level 4, and Level 5.
*NOTE: This process will be repeated for the 2019-2020 school year with the implementation of new reading test for grades 3-8.
