National Walk to School Day
International Walk to School Day is a global event that involves communities from more than 40 countries walking and biking to school on the same day. It began in 1997 as a one-day event. Over time, this event has become part of a movement for year-round safe routes to school and a celebration – with record breaking participation – each October. Today, thousands of schools across America – from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico – participate every October.
Cross Country
On September 28th, Cross Country runner Vanessa Fernandez placed 7 out of 90 girls. Vanessa was running on only 5 hours of sleep and no breakfast after attending the Friday night football game, as she is also the High school mascot. Vanessa ran 14:02 on Comfort's tough course.
Wednesday, October 2 Vanessa Fernandez went to Mason where she ran against Llano, Tivy, Fredericksburg and Wimberley. Vanessa was 11 out 83 and Ran a 13:38.

Jr.High takes on Ingram
The Jr. High white team came up short on Thursday against Ingram. The team played hard and the coaches were proud of their effort and not giving up.
The black team won 38-0 and started the season off 1-0. Kole Blackledge led the defensive effort in the backfield. Javier Arreola provided the hit of the game on a kick off. Clayton Thomas returned a punt return for a touchdown and the blocking downfield by Hector Cervantes opened the alley for the score. The players and coaches want to thank the cheerleaders for their support during the game. GOOD JOB PIRATES!

Volleyball
The lady Pirates Varsity Volleyball team traveled to Great Hearts Monte Vista on Friday September 20th and won in 4 sets. Kammi Skeen led in kills with 15, Lexi Mills had 5 kills and 28 assists. Victoria Beckerson added 2 kills and 2 aces.Jaylin Haughie and Paige Ponce combined for 48 digs. Kiersten Adams had 32 assists as well. The Lady Pirates then traveled to Harper on Tuesday September 24th and lost. They played Stacey at home and were defeated . Tuesday October 1st our ladies came back strong and JV and Varsity Defeated Lee academy in 3 sets. The JV secured a long awaited 1st win and did in 3 well played sets. The Varsity won in straight sets 25 -11, 25 -15, 25 -11. Lexi Mills with 15 kills, 11 aces and 11 digs and 22 assists. Kammi Skeen had 6 kills, Kiersten Adams had 5 kills, 4 aces , 18 assists and 8 digs and Iris Lozano added 3 kills. Victoria Beckerson had 7 aces and Maegan Monje had 2 kills as well. The ladies are off Friday then begin the 2nd Half of district home against Junction on Tuesday October 8th.

Mr. King Joined Center Point ISD this year. He graduated from Duncanville HIgh School and went to college at the University of North Texas. This is his twelfth year teaching. He became a teacher for the satisfaction of developing students who became successful in their lives.
Outside of school he likes to go hiking and enjoying the outdoors with his wife.

Spanish II to Los Dos Amigos
Ms.Vargas’s Spanish ll class is learning how to pronounce foods in Spanish. On September 24th they practiced their skills by taking a trip to Los Dos Amigos Restaurant and had to order food in Spanish.
