From the Testing Office
Parents over the next 2 weeks your student(s) will be taking the PSAT 9 and the PSAT/NMSQT. This is a practice SAT test for students to get an idea of what the test looks like and how they perform on the SAT. This year the College Board has changed their format from a paper test to an online digital test. Please see the infographics below that provides you and your student(s) information on how to prepare for the day and what to expect on test day. Once scores are released to students, they will be able to see their scores in their personal College Board account. Within this score report are areas that show what skills students have mastered and what skills they need to work on. This is an interactive area within the testing results that can assist students as they learn and expand their academic knowledge. For our 11th grade students they will be taking the NMSQT (National Merit Scholar Qualifying Test). This test is one of the ways our SVHS students have received academic accolades which also has some monetary rewards in the form of scholarships. Not all students receive this acclaim but every year we have a large number of students who are recognized by the College Board for their abilities academically. This is one of the reasons that our Ranger Community continues to provide amazing classroom instruction for all students no matter what classroom they are in.
Again, take a look at the infographics and help prepare your students for an amazing testing experience. Make note of the dates for each test: Oct. 4, 2023 our 9th grade students will be taking the PSAT 9 and on Oct. 11th our 10th and 11th grade students will be taking the PSAT/NMSQT.
