Police brutality is not just an issue in local state governments, but the white house is aware of the unjust force against civilians. In the wake of Ferguson protest Obama and the white house have come to a decision to implement a new strategy against police brutality. According to The Verge, the white house pledged $263 million towards body cameras and police training on December 1st,2014. $75 million of this money will be spent on 50,000 cameras, this could be the start of something becoming universal.
Why it works
Body cameras have shown improvements in some places already, like California. There was a controlled study that required police officers to wear body cameras to see their interaction with the public. the results were astonishing, in one year the use of force was dropped 60% and complaints dropped by a whopping 80%.
