Principal's Corner
Eclipse
As you probably know, this area of the U.S. will experience a solar eclipse on August 21. A permission slip is coming home today to allow students to go outside and view this event. We ask that it be returned by Friday.
The letter accompanying the permission slip addresses students going outside during the school day, but I want to briefly address dismissal. The eclipse will still be partially visible during dismissal, so the students will be instructed not to look at the sun while going to the bus or cars. We will have extra staff on duty at this time to help the students. If you have any concerns, please let me know.
Please remember to take it easy while driving through the parking lot after dropping off your children. We have students and Father Stan who occasionally walk through the area to get to school. Thank you for your help in keeping everyone safe.
Carla Prickel Recognized in Publication
You probably remember that on May 31, 2017, the Indiana Department of Education named Carla Prickel the School Food Service Employee of the Year. This achievement was recognized in the Indiana Nutrition Newsletter. To see the article, use this web address.

Homework Table
This year the homework table is located on the heater to the right of the office door. Urgent Care donated red homework bags for the teachers to put materials in for absent students. When picking up absent work, you may want to check and make sure your child's sick work is in the bag. If there aren't many materials to be sent home, the teacher may just have a paper or two on the heater.
Reminder for 6th Graders
Please remember to have your parents complete and sign the FREE YMCA membership form (sent home last week) and return to St. Louis this week. This is a great opportunity for you to enjoy all that the Y has to offer!
