Finding Our Rhythm (Week of January 11 - 15, 2015)

As we work toward finding a weekly rhythm in this new semester, I want to make parents and guardians aware of a few changes in procedure. First, I want to remind everyone that I am not accepting late work this quarter, in order to both help students cultivate time management skills, as well as make sure that both students and guardians are consistently up to date on where they stand with grades. Second, in addition to their planners, keep an eye out for a weekly syllabus in Language Arts, in order to help both you and your student keep up with their weekly assignments. Finally, to keep you updated on student performance, I will be sending home a "Missing Assignment Report" each Monday, which will allow those of you who do not have ready access to PowerSchool to have a weekly update of where your student stands in regard to their assignments and grades.

Academically, we're moving on with our discussion of fractions in Math, moving on to multiplication and division. In Social Studies, we're moving on to a discussion of slavery in the colonies, as we further our understanding of life in the Southern Colonies. In Science, we are beginning work on our Body System Model projects, which will be due on the 27th, (see the rubric provided your student for details on the project). Finally in Language Arts we are working to make connections in Non-Fiction texts. See the boxes below for the standards for this cycle, as well as our spelling words for this week.
