Habit #2: Beginning with the End in Mind

During the month of October, we are teaching about Habit #2: Begin with the End in Mind. This means to think about how you would like something to turn out before you get started. Reading a recipe before cooking or looking at a map before leaving on a trip is beginning with the end in mind. For young children, a good example of that is a jigsaw puzzle. Before doing a puzzle, they look at the cover of the box. They start with the end in mind.

Habit 2 means to have a plan. I plan ahead and set goals. I do things that have meaning and make a difference. I am an important part of my classroom and contribute to my school's mission and vision. I look for ways to be a good citizen.

Soaring Hawks

Our students are working hard to earning Soaring Hawks. So far we have earning 83 Soaring Hawks! We have a goal of earning 100 Soaring Hawks. When we earn our goal, classes will choose a way to celebrate. Some ways we have celebrated are PJ parties, game time, and extra recess.

Parent Teacher Conferences

Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held at Hanawalt on November 1st and 2nd. Each fifteen minute conference will include a time for us to discuss your studentʼs strengths and challenges, highlight growth that has occurred over the course of the quarter, and make goals for the remainder of the year.
