Library Card Sign-up Day with Teen Librarian Meghan Casey - Celebrate Your Library Superpowers!

Thursday, Aug. 30th, 11am-1pm

7801 Titan Drive

Antelope, CA

Students will have the opportunity to sign-up for a Sacramento Library Card on campus. This will allow students to not only access print resources at the local Library but also give them access to all of the Sacramento Library Databases and the new Libby App from their own homes! This is great for ebook reading and those research projects. We want students using vetted sources, not just Google.

Students can stop by the Library Card Drive Table in front of the Library, during both lunches, to pick up an application for their own Sac Library card. Mrs. Casey will also have lots of local library info for teens, freebies, and treats. Encourage your students to stop by.

Banned Books Week is Sept. 23rd-29th

Encourage your students to stand up to censorship and declare their literary freedoms by reading a "banned" book. Have them come and check out some great, formerly challenged books in the Library. They can even test their banned books knowledge during Banned Books Week and have a chance to win a FREE $5 Starbuck's card. Students can go to the following link to take the Banned Books' quiz and be entered into the gift card drawing. Winners will be announced on October 5th.

Upcoming Library Programs 2018

The AnHS LIbrary will be implementing a Teen Advisory Board for the 2018-2019 school year. Titan students will be in charge of designing, planning, and advertising events and programs of their choice to their fellow Titans. We are excited to ramp up our makerspace activities through this student group and bring a variety of new ideas such as compassionate making, a film/book club, and global citizenship to our Library. Students can join during Club Rush Week September 4-7th.

ALL LEARNING LAB Starts Next Tuesday!

Do you have students that need extra support in their learning?

They can join us in the AnHS Library, after school, every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, starting August 28, 2018, from 2:35 to 4:30 pm. Students can get help in all subjects, use computers, printers, and calculators, and access Library Resources. For additional questions you can email Alicia Raatz or Rija Gorkhali.

Chromebook Update

Most of the 9th/10th CBs and 11th/12th Mixed Classes’ CBs have been issued to students; however, we still have some 9th/10th graders and approximately 45, 11th/12th graders, who received a blue pass to pick up a CB, that have not done so. If you have a 9th/10th grader in your class or an 11th/12th grade who was supposed to receive a CB and has not yet picked it up, please send them to the Library with their signed contracts.

Database Upgrades 2018

The State of California is offering California Public Schools a database bundle free of charge. Students now have access to a greater number of databases and will be exposed to a wider variety of database interfaces to better prepare them for their future college and career pursuits and help them become more information literate. Titans can log in to these new databases from the AnHS Library website by scrolling past the database videos and tutorials. Remote access usernames and passwords can be found there as well.

Sacramento Bee Electronic Resources

Need your students to find current articles in English or Spanish? Have them visit the Sacramento Bee News in Education website and log in as a student using the AnHS Class ID and password found on our Library website under electronic resources. Once they log in as a student, they can select "Read Today's Paper" to choose The Sacramento Bee or El Nuevo Herald. They can also access many other student resources on the Sac Bee Education website.

Google Extension Pick of the Month: Awesome Screenshot

Want your students to connect to and communicate with images? Try out the Awesome Screenshot Google Extension. Students can capture all or part of any web page and then add annotations, comments, blur sensitive info, and share with one-click uploads. Have them make a collage of annotated images and then link a deeper video response to the document with Flipgrid. So many possibilities!
