Who Knew Doodling is Educationally Worthy? Sketchnotes - It's Visual!
Sketchnotes are purposeful doodling while listening to something interesting whether it be a teacher's lecture, video, or a classmate's presentation. They are as much a method of note taking as they are a form of creative expression. They are visual notes where lines, symbols, icons, frames, bullets, and other visual elements are used to organize the note taking process.
Although drawing skills are incorporated to visually synthesize the notes, Sketchnotes do not require advanced artistic abilities! The skills needed to create effective Sketchnotes include planning, listening, processing, summarizing, and creative thinking -- all skills students need to be developing!
So if it sparks an interest, tech out more information about sketchnotes and integrate them into your instruction and your students' learning - consider using Google Drawing to make yours and your students' sketchnotes interactive! Way cool!
