Patellar Tendonitis

What it is

This is an injury to the tendon that connects the knee to the shin bone. The patellar tendon helps the muscles extend the knee.

Most common in

This injury is most common in basketball and volley ball players, and also athletes who frequently squat or jump.


  • Stiffness
  • Tenderness
  • Knee pain
  • Swelling of the knee

Ways to prevent........

  • Stretch frequently
  • Ice your knees
  • Use moist heat on your knees
  • Strengthen the muscles around the tendon
