April Superintendent Report
Please take a few moments to review the Superintendent Report from the meeting on April 25, 2023. In it you will find:
- an Update on the MSD Counseling Department and PE/H

Extended Memorial Day Weekend Break
Due to the mild weather this past winter, we did not use the two inclement weather days built into the 2022-2023 School District Calendar. This means that the two unused inclement weather days will be added to Memorial Day Weekend. All Manville Schools will be closed on Friday, May 26, through Tuesday, May 30. School will resume on Wednesday, May 31. We hope that everyone enjoys the extended holiday weekend!

Preschool lottery registration is open until May 5 for all Manville residents born between 10/2/2018- 10/2/2020.

Coming Up for Manville Schools
Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day
The Manville School District will participate in “Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work
Day” on April 27, 2023. If your child attends work with you on April 27, they will receive
credit for school attendance. In addition, teachers will afford students the opportunity to
share their experiences during class.
Please complete this form and return it by April 26 or immediately upon return to
school advising of your participation in this NJDOE-approved program.
Faculty Wars
Join us for a FUN night as the Manville Education Foundation presents FACULTY WARS 2023 on Thursday, April 27, 2023, Manville High School Auditorium, doors open at 6:30pm.
Ten teams of faculty and staff from Weston, Roosevelt, ABIS and MHS will face off in An EPIC battle of talent and laughs! Who will take home the coveted FACULTY WARS CUP?!?
Come cheer on your favorite team of Teachers as they battle it out in some of these entertaining categories:
- "Don't Forget the Lyrics"!
- "Are you Smarter than a 5th grader?"
- "Musical Chairs"
- "Worms in Mud Challenge"
- "Push Up Challenge"
- "Individual Group Competition" - will be a surprise for all of us!

Manville Recreation Open Gym Basketball Games
Manville Recreation presents open gym basketball games for adults 18+ and 30+ located at the Manville High School gym.
Games open to participants 30+ will take place the following Wednesdays 7:30-9 p.m. : May 3, May 10, May 17, May 24, May 31 & June 7.
Games open to participants 18+ will take place the following Thursdays 6- 7:30 p.m. : April 2 & May 4.
The registration fee is $10 per game at the door. Advanced registration is available for the season of six sessions of the 30+ open games through Community Pass. For more information visit https://www.manvillenj.org/308/Recreation or call 908-725-9478 ext. 121.
5th Annual Friends of the Library Cupcake Competition
The Friends of the Manville Library is reaching out to the community to join us in a friendly competition on Wednesday, May 10th. All money raised from the sale of the cupcakes goes back into the building to purchase tables, chairs and other items that improve the facility. Simple decorations are welcome, or try your hand at a “fool-the-eye” design to add a little whimsy to the competition. All cupcakes sell for $1.50 after the voting, so please stop by to judge, then purchase!
May COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics
Somerset County Department of Health COVID-19 vaccine clinics will be taking place throughout the month of May with primary and booster vaccines available for individuals six months and older. Clinics will be offered at the following locations:
Bedminster Town Hall
One Miller Lane, Bedminster, NJ

Time: 3:30-6:30 p.m.
Somerset County Senior Wellness Center
876 E. Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ
Dates: May 3, May 17 & May 31
Time: 4-7:30 p.m.
United Reform Church
100 W. Main Street, Somerville, NJ
Dates: May 11 & May 25
Time: 3- 6:30 p.m.
Appointments are not required, walk-ins are welcome. Please see the below flyers for more information on specific vaccines available. Individuals under 18 years old need parental/guardian consent and presence during vaccination.
The Somerset County Department of Health continues to vaccinate homebound individuals and families based on primary and booster dose eligibility recommendations. Residents who are unable to visit a community COVID-19 vaccination location can call or text (844) 569-0390 to schedule an appointment for a COVID-19 vaccine.
Food Assistance
The Manville Food Pantry will be open the second Saturday of each month at the Faith in Action Church at 228 S. Main Street. Please make sure to bring your ID and a bag.
Feeding Hands is also offering assistance the fourth Saturday of each month at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 34 South Third Avenue. See the flyer for dates and more details.
CIACC Corner
Somerset County's CIACC (Children's Interagency Coordinating Councils) has a number of resources available to residents.
- Disaster Recovery Case Management Free service for individuals or families with 1:1 support from a trained Disaster Case Manager that will assist in linking to resources. Case Managers also provide assistance with interactions with FEMA, insurance companies & other disaster-related resources/services. Spanish-speaking Case Managers are also available.
