Cross Country Races to a Pair of Top Five Finishes
Hewitt-Trussville Cross Country finished the 2019 season on Saturday at the AHSAA State Championships in Moulton. The Huskies had a great day as the HT Girls finished 4th as a team and the HT Boys finished 5th as a team.
Maci Mills paced the Husky Girls as she earned a top-20 finish by placing 18th. Sophia Knox and Kinley Harris raced well as they placed 32nd and 33rd respectively. Kylee Sisk finished 46th and Mia Cane finished 50th to round out the top five. The top five for the HT Girls were made up of one Sophomore, two Freshmen and two 8th Graders. The HT Boys finished 5th as a team and the Huskies were led by Nathan Knox who placed 25th. Aaron Himes finished 32nd and Mitchell Phillips placed 34th. Rounding out the scoring five for the Huskies were Alex Jones (47th) and Sam Lovin (58th). To see full results, select the link below.

Huskies Knock Down 10 3's in Season Opening Win
Coach Jeff Baker's team opened the 2019-2020 season with an impressive offensive display Thursday night. The Huskies went on the road and defeated McAdory 85-67. For the game, the Huskies hit 10 three-point shots. Cameron Glover hit three shots from beyond the arc in the opening period as the Huskies raced to a 21-11 lead. Brandan Copeland scored eight points in the 2nd quarter as the Huskies took a 52-32 lead into the locker room.
In total, four Husky players scored in double figures and ten players scored for HT. Cameron Glover led the way with 18 points. Carter Hollis had eight buckets and 16 points on the night. Brandan Copeland added 12 points and JaColby Thomas chipped in 11 points.
The Huskies will be off until Thursday November 14 when they host Center Point in the home opener. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:30pm inside Bryant Bank Arena on the HTHS campus.

Girls Basketball Opens Season with Comeback Win
HT Girls Basketball used a strong second half performance to notch a 68-63 season opening win against McAdory Thursday night. The Huskies trailed 37-26 at halftime, but rallied for the win. D'Yona Jones scored 10 points in the 3rd quarter to cut the deficit. The Jackets led 50-48 as the game entered the final quarter. Amiya Payne scored four baskets in the last period as the Huskies completed the comeback.
For the game, four players scored in double figures. Amiya Payne led the way as she scored a team high 19 points. D'Yona Jones had 17 points for Coach Tonya Hunter's team. Leah Harrison made four foul shots and finished the night with 14 points. Kenleigh Cahalan had a 4th quarter three-pointer and finished with 10 points.
The Huskies will make their home debut on Thursday November 14 against Center Point. Tip-off is schedule for 6pm. Please be sure to follow www.hthuskies.com all season for news and results.

Hewitt-Trussville Swimming traveled to the Birmingham Crossplex last week for the Westminster Knightfall Classic. Here are some highlights.

Bowling to Open Season Thursday
Head Coach Tommy Abney and his HT Bowlers will open the 2019-2020 season on Thursday as they host Shades Valley. The matches are scheduled to begin at 4pm. All home matches for the Huskies take place at Spare Time Trussville. The address for the bowling alley is 3600 Roosevelt Boulevard Birmingham 35235.

HTHS Boys Golf Tryouts November 18-22
HTHS Boys Golf will have tryouts for the Spring 2020 season November 18-22. All students wishing to sign up for tryouts should email Head Coach Steve Patrick at steve.patrick@trussvillecityschools.com or see Assistant Coach Dylan Haraway at HTHS.
Student Athletic Pass Pickup Information
In an effort to increase our fan base and make game attendance more affordable, Student Athletic Passes will be available for the second time ever for the 2019-2020 school year. Every student in the district (K-12) will have the opportunity to have their own personalized athletic pass card. With this pass, students will be able to enter ALL HTMS and HTHS home regular season sporting events. The pass is $20 and can be purchased during registration as an item on the activity sheet.

Q. What is the purpose of the Student Athletic Pass?
A. The Student Athletic Pass will be available to ALL students in the district (K-12). Our goal is to make it easier and more affordable for students to attend Hewitt-Trussville sporting events.
Q. What can I attend with this pass?
A. Students that have their pass can enter ALL HTMS and HTHS home regular season sporting events. Every sport! For the entire 2019-2020 school year!
Q. How much does this pass cost?
A. The Student Athletic Pass is $20

A. Passes are available at all five TCS schools and can be purchased through registration
Q. Do students with a Student Athletic Pass still need to buy a ticket?
A. No. The Student Athletic Pass is good for admission to ALL HTMS and HTHS regular season home games. Tickets will need to be purchased for playoff games only.
MS Basketball Weekly Recap
HTMS Basketball enjoyed their first full week of competition last week. The HT 7th Grade Girls defeated Bumpus 19-14 to open the week. Ashlyn Howard led the way as she scored eight points. Later in the week, the 7th Grade Girls fell to Berry 19-13.
The 8th Grade Girls team lost a pair of close games. The fell to Bumpus 31-23 and to Berry 31-27.
The 7th Grade Boys lost a pair of games to Bumpus and Berry. The 8th Grade Huskies beat Bumpus 44-31 then fell to Berry in overtime.
This week, the HT Boys teams will host Thompson on Tuesday. The 7th Grade will play at 4:30pm and the 8th Grade will play at 5:45pm.

The Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) requires all student-athletes to complete eligibility paperwork each year. For the second year, this process will be done online rather than in paper copy. Any student, wishing to participate in athletics, that will be in grades 7-12 for the 2019-2020 school year will be required to complete this process. Please follow the instructions below to complete these forms for the 2019-2020 school year. Students’ forms for 2019-2020 need to be 100% complete as soon as possible. This is for AHSAA sanctioned sports only.
