Happenings Worth Hollering About

A Moment to Brag
Hello everyone! I just wanted to take a moment to update some information and to BRAG about my two awesome classes.
I had to be out Tuesday in order to be with family because my grandfather passed away last Thursday, but I must say that my students have been absolutely amazing in keeping my spirits high. I have been showered in hugs, treats, and kind words that have made my soul better able to handle the loss of my grandfather. I was greeted this morning with hugs and lots of "I missed you" comments, and I must say that it made me feel amazing.
I just want to thank all of you for raising such wonderful children. :)
So now on to the updates...
-Because of the events of the weekend, I was unable to enter all of my grades into my gradebook; therefore, I do not have their Thursday papers ready to go home. I will be using the weekend to grade and enter all of their science and math papers and will send home their graded packets on Monday. I apologize about the delay, but I greatly appreciate your understanding and patience.
-I WILL be calling this Friday and next Monday to set up conferences. I would like to have one during September and one during October. The one during September is for us to have a candid conversation about your child. The conference during October is more academic focused. At that time we will be able to discuss your child's academic progress. I look forward to meeting with you soon.
-I have been asked to present at the West Georgia RESA Technology Conference on September 13, 2013. I will be teaming up with Ms. Charlease Kelly-Jackson from Kennesaw State University to discuss the use of the Vernier probes in the science classroom. My 2013 - 2014 students have not had the opportunity to use the software yet, but when we get into pollution, heat, and magnets, we won't be able to put them down. I will be absent the 13th, but I assure you that your child's education will continue in my absence.
-I will be developing a list of volunteer opportunities and will get those to you by the end of next week. I love having volunteers in my classroom and look forward to having you in soon.
Be sure to scroll down to check out the invites for Curriculum Night and the Sandy Springs Sprint!!!
Kind Regards
-Ms. Garris, Nerfy, and Harry
