University Application Personal Statement Workshop

Monday, Feb. 3rd, 1:30pm


University applications are coming... if you have not started your personal statement, do not worry! This workshop will highlight strategies for developing critical elements of quality personal statements as well as common pitfalls to avoid. All are welcome; second-year students nearing readiness to submit transfer applications are especially encouraged to attend.

Don't be late for a very important date! Follow Alice down the rabbit hole to Wonderland at our annual Casino Night. Adventure through classic casino games like blackjack, craps, roulette, and Texas Hold 'em. Enjoy treats at our tea party, win prizes at bingo, or try your luck with the Mad Hatter magician. Come watch white roses turn red and have a grand time at this year's Casino Night in Wonderland

Let It Not Happen Again: Lessons of the Japanese American Exclusion

Wednesday, Feb. 5th, 1:15-2:45pm

Cascadia welcomes guest speaker Clarence Moriwaki to speak about Japanese American exclusion during WWII, its local connections, and parallels to current events. In total more than 120,000 Japanese Americans were forcibly removed and incarcerated during the war, and this national strategy began with families on Bainbridge Island here in Washington. This guest speaker event is hosted by the Global Education Committee, in partnership with the Japanese Culture Club.

Cascadia Foundation Scholarships

Attending Cascadia next year? Want help paying for it? We have scholarships for honor students, low income, first generation college students, LGBTQ+, STEM majors, and more. Applying is so easy: complete one, short application and be considered for dozens of awards. International and undocumented students are encouraged to apply. Download the app at the link below, or pick one up at the Foundation Office in CC2-281.

Applications are due March 6, 2020

Students of Color Conference applications DUE THURSDAY

The Center for Culture, Inclusion, and Community, “The Center,” is pleased to announce that applications for the Annual Students of Color Conference are now available. The 30th Annual Students of Color Conference, “Calling all Changemakers: 30 Years of Unapologetic Activism” will be held in Yakima, Washington on Thursday, April 23rd- 25th 2020.

The Students of Color Conference brings together over 800 students from 34 community and technical colleges across the state to discuss topics that include ethnic and racial identity development, academic success, skills for promoting social justice, and intercultural communications.

All registration costs,accommodations and transportations will be covered by “The Center” for those selected to attend. Student must be registered for Winter & Spring 2020 with at least 5 credits per quarter and have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 to be eligible to participate.

Application deadline is on February 6th, 2020

Annual Q-Topia Conference

The Center for Culture, Inclusion, and Community, “The Center,” is pleased to announce that applications for Annual Q-Topia Conference are now available. The Annual Q- Topia Conference “ I am more than Queer: Past, Present, Future” will be help in Olympia, at South Puget Sound Community College, on Friday, May 8th – 9th, 2020

Q- Topia Conference creates a liberating space to engage queer individuals and their many communities to develop their sense of belonging and pride in queer culture and community. This conference is a collaborative project of regional colleges, community organizations, educators, students and organizers. We are proud to invite you to join us in a conference by the people for the people!!!

D&D Club

D&D Club is an inclusive environment for game-lovers, RPG(role-playing game)players, table-top gamers, actors, writers and anyone with a flair for imagination. We will work to promote team building, problem solving, conflict resolution, improvisational skills, world building exercises, character creation workshops, cooperation skills and similar ideas. We welcome new and experienced players and DMs(Dungeon Masters) from all walks of life.

The purpose of our club is to build community among students interested in biological sciences and medical professions. Japanese Culture Club

We want to share the Japanese culture in Cascadia community and create a safe place for cultural dialogue, exchange and respect. We will also share skills in calligraphy, Karate and Kendo.

Our purpose is to introduce Korean language to students through exploring Korean cultural mediums such as K-pop songs, K-dramas, and Korean movies, while also doing fun activities in Korean so we can learn and practice together.
