Language Arts
Students should know how to identify all of their upper case and lower case letters. Out of order, in random sequences.
Student should know all of their letter sounds.
Students should be able to print all of their letters neatly.
Students should be able to print their first and last name correctly, with the first letter capitalized and the rest lower case.
Students should be able to draw a picture and write a few words to match the picture. These words should have at least the beginning letter sound and the ending letter sound.
By the end of the school year students should be able to write at least two sentences.
Sight Words To Work On At Home:
We have started working on individual sight words.
Here is the list in the order in which they are introduced. Students must be able to read these words and spell/write them by the end of the school year. Please make word cards at home a practice these as a family when you have time.

Throughout the year in Math.......
We will practice printing your numbers, 1-10. (Fall)
We will learn our numbers 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10. (Fall)
We will be counting to 20 out loud. (Fall)
We will be counting objects past 20. (Fall)
We will be learning all of our 2D shapes, circle, rectangle, square, triangle, hexagon. (Fall)
We will be learning our numbers 11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20. (Winter)
We will learn all of our math facts using numbers 0-5. (Winter)
We will practice printing our numbers, 10-20. (Winter)
We will be counting to 100. (Winter)
We will be are counting by 10's. (Winter)
We are writing our numbers past 20. (Spring)
Then we will be learning our math facts up to 10. (Spring)
Addition facts are easier, subtraction facts are harder to learn.
In math we also learn that "number partners" make a math fact, like 3+2 and 2+3 are number partners that make 5...
We will be learning all of our 3D shapes cone, sphere, pyramid, cube, rectangular prism. (Spring)
