PUMPKIN PAINTING
On Friday, October 14, PTA will be sponsoring a Pumpkin Painting event. This event will be from 5:00 to 7:00. There will be a limited amount of pumpkins. Once they are gone, they are gone. Thank you to our PTA for providing such a fun event for our families.
What We Will Be Learning This Week:
MATH - We will be classifying and sorting three-dimensional solids, including spheres, cones, cylinders, rectangular prisms, and triangular prisms. We will continue to work on adding and subtracting strategies. Watch the videos to help support your second grader.
ELA - We will be reading the book, I Need My Monster. Listen and watch the YouTube video together as a family and ask each other questions about the story elements.
Fictional Story Elements
- Beginning ---> When, Who, Where (Characters & Setting)
- Middle --------> Problem & Solution
- End ------------> The lesson the author is trying to teach us.
WRITING - Personal Narrative - Focusing on adding the story elements to our own personal stories.
SCIENCE - We will observe and identify how magnets are used in everyday life.
IPad Apps
A few students have asked to bring their iPad to school. Here is a list of apps that we use in the classroom. Having these apps on iPad or tablets before bringing to class will be very helpful.

Tuesday October 25: "Ahoy, Mateys! We are RED-y to Take a Stand!" - Pirate Day & Wear Red
Wednesday October 26: Lei Off Drugs!--Hawaiian Day
Thursday October 27: There are a Minion Reasons to Stay Drug Free!--Minion Day
Friday October 28: Roos say BOO to Drugs!!--Costumes-Roo “BOO!” Parade
”Boo Roo” Costume Guidelines and Party
Costumes must be appropriate and masks are not to be worn.
No pretend “prop” weapons such as water pistols, knives, swords, fake blood or gore.
No bare midriffs or revealing clothing.
Any costumes that will disrupt the routine of the day (including PE) will not be allowed; appropriate shoes must be worn.
Administration has the final say on all costumes.
The "BOO ROO" party will be on Friday, October 28th from 2:20-3:20. Your child's teacher will collaborate with the room mom and parents who volunteered to help to make this a fun event for your child.
*This week will be fun-filled while focusing on the importance of making healthy choices.*
Attendance Incentives!
Class-When a class has had 20 days of perfect attendance they may choose a 30 min. reward such as extra recess, no shoes in the classroom, board game day etc.
Campus-If a student has perfect attendance for 6 weeks they will be rewarded in a different way each 6 weeks.
