The Road Map for SEL Re-Entry Phase One
An Initial Guide to Leveraging the Power of SEL as You Prepare to Reopen and Renew Your School Community
A new Release from CASEL School leaders can take action now using this guide to co-create supportive learning environments where all students and adults can enhance their social and emotional competencies, feel a sense of belonging, heal, and thrive.
The brief includes a four-part guide for school leaders:
· Take time to build partnerships, deepen understanding, and plan for SEL. By prioritizing SEL and the needs and concerns of all students and families, leaders can navigate the transition ahead and strengthen partnerships for teaching and learning. · Design opportunities for adults to connect, heal, and cultivate their own SEL competencies and capacity. By creating time, space, and working conditions that help adults feel connected, empowered, supported, and valued, school leaders can help cultivate adults’ SEL and overall well-being. · Create emotionally and physically safe, supportive, and engaging learning environments that promote all students' social and emotional development. This situation has elevated the role of leaders in creating conditions that help students practice empathy, create social bonds across distance, and adapt to new learning experiences. · Use data as an opportunity to deepen relationships and continuously improve support for students, families, and staff. This includes collecting and reflecting on data that elevates the perspectives of students and families, identifying and addressing inequities and challenges, and building upon successes. States and districts will be critical partners in ensuring schools have the resources, support, and guidance needed to carry out these actions. To access the full brief click here.

Indiana Public School Districts’ Student Wellness Practices and Supports Data Base
Indiana Department of Education and Project AWARE partners have developed a searchable online database that outlines each school district’s student wellness practices and programs at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. Here is a link to the current searchable database: https://www.doe.in.gov/projectaware.
This data was collected through a survey distributed by IDOE to all public Indiana schools in August 2019. If information for your school district is not included in this searchable database, it is not too late! Your school’s choice to participate in the survey is voluntary but should you choose to participate, your responses would contribute to our quest to better understand how Indiana public schools are supporting student wellness. Please confer with your district leadership to determine the appropriate individual(s) to complete the survey and click on the following link to ensure your school’s student wellness supports are included in the IDOE online database: https://iu.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3aSGAinWoF3o6Xz.
If you have questions about the database and/or this survey request, please contact Dr. Sheila Dennis at dennis2@iu.edu.
St. Joe County System of Care

CDC GUIDANCE MATERIALS
Next school year will most likely look different in many ways. Unfortunately, most of these changes are currently very difficult to predict as guidance documents continue to evolve as researchers learn more about this complicated virus. The most recent CDC documents can be located here.
SCHOOL HEALTH REPORT
Please remember to complete your School Health Report before the end of the school year. Once you log into the DOE Online site, only those schools that are required to complete the Report will appear in the dropdown menu. If your school is not listed, you do not have to complete this Report and you should instead submit your data to your school administrator. Even if you were not able to complete all of your vision and hearing screenings for this school year, please enter as much data as possible into the Report. Please contact your administrator or IT department if you need assistance accessing your data. For password directions or instructions for completing your Report, please click here. If you need additional assistance completing your report, please contact Cheryl Coffey at ccoffey@doe.in.gov.
MOODLE RESET
The Moodle Platform, which contains the School Nurse Courses, will be unavailable from June 15-17. During this time, participant information from all six courses will be cleared, the grades and certificates will be removed, and the courses will be reset. By doing this, participants can retake each of the courses again in the future and have new certificates (with the new dates) available for printing. If you have taken any of these course in the past year, please print your certificate before June 15, as after this date, they will no longer be available. Your password into the Moodle will not change.
