News From Mrs. Wilburn
Hello CRES Families,
I cannot believe this is the final newsletter for the 2020-2021 school year! We have certainly persevered this year and worked together to learn how to "do school" in a very different way. Thank you, families! You have adjusted your schedules, supported your children through virtual learning, made hard decisions regarding virtual or in person learning, and supported our teachers and staff. It has not been an easy year, but we have worked together to do what is best for our children.
Traditionally, we end the school year with Field Day and Award's Day. This year, we will have to cancel Field Day. However, each grade level team is planning an award's event to honor our students for their work this year. You will receive more information from your child's teacher.
As you make plans for the summer, please consider the Promising Scholars program from June 7-July 2. Registration for this free opportunity ends May 5. You can register now at summer.mnps.org
Speaking of planning, our teachers and staff are already preparing for the 2021-2022 school year! We are looking forward to and planning opportunities to serve our students and families during the 21-22 school year.
During the summer break, please encourage your child to read, read, read! Our students will be able to keep their computers for summer use. Lexia and iReady will continue to be available for students to access. Please plan time for your child to access these programs to maintain and expand their skills! Your child's teacher can provide other suggestions for summer engagement.
Again, thank you for your support this year! I hope everyone has a safe and fun summer.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Wilburn

Testing News From Mrs. Edwards...
Dear Parents,
We have 2 final testing pieces to complete in May. These apply to ALL students in K-5. If you have a virtual student, these tests may be done on computer at home.
The first assessment is MAP, for both ELA and Math. Your child’s teacher (virtual only) will contact you with a specific log in time and password. PLEASE be sure that your child’s computer has all needed updates, password is current, and the computer can connect with the internet. If your child is getting on Schoology each day, the computer is fine.
Map testing will take place during the first 2 weeks in May. The teacher must be signed into his/her computer in order for the student computer to run the test. Therefore, you MUST have your child log in at the assigned time. In-person students will do this with their teacher at school.
During the 2nd week of May, there will also be an I-Ready diagnostic. This diagnostic does not need a password and can be done at any time. It is critical that parents do not assist their students on this test, as the results determine your child’s learning path for August. If the child gets test help, they will be assigned work that is too hard, and you will be wondering why your student is suddenly bringing home failing grades!
Thank you, parents, with all your help throughout the TNReady testing. Scores will be released next fall and will come to you in paper format. It will probably be during September. We will forward scores to your child’s new school if they are not returning to Cane Ridge.
