Terrie Scott is our Internship Hero

By Erin Gilbert '22 I am just getting to know Terrie Scott but I have already learned so much from her. She is kind and helpful. Additionally, Terrie is very funny and makes the 2 hour class fly by! I genuinely appreciate all of the hard work she puts into setting up the lessons for us and the time she spends teaching us. We have much to learn in order to pass the state test when our internship is over and I am confident that Terrie will have us ready to go! Terrie Scott is my internship hero! | By Malaika Imran '21 My Internship Hero is my teacher and mentor, Terrie Scott! From the very first day at my internship she has been super kind to me and very supportive. She would explain our nursing skills in detail and make sure everyone's questions get answered and we all feel comfortable doing the skills on our own. Terrie is also really flexible and she creates an environment that balances out our work. She inspires me to try my hardest and to do the best I can with each skill she teaches. Terrie simply makes my day brighter. One of my favorite parts of our STNA class is when she shares funny stories about working as a nurse. She takes the time to ask us questions and gets to know each individual student. You can tell she really truly cares. | By Mary Harvey '21My internship hero is my mentor, Terrie Scott. Terrie Scott is an LPN, but she also teachers the State Tested Nursing Assistant Skills Course through Lakeland Community College. Although my internship with Terrie is over, her lessons and her impact will stay with me for the rest of my educational career. Each week, she would come into class full of positivity and excitement, regardless of the long shift she had the night before at her other job. Sometimes she would let us perform the skill on her to give us a better insight on how to perform the skill on a human, rather than a manikin. Terrie makes sure we gain empathy for the patients we will serve. My classmates and I are scheduled to take our State Test on April 1, 2021. Terrie offered the opportunity for us to meet with her to review for our test. This is just another example of how kind and caring Terrie is, and how she wants all of her students to succeed. |
