The Week at a Glance
Weekly Concept: Good Citizens
Essential Question: How can you be a good citizen?
After spring break our class will be reading stories about how children can be good citizens. They will learn how to listen, share, help others, respect one another, work together, and take turns.
Here are some activities that you can do with your child to help reinforce the skills we will be practicing.
Word Workout
Vocabulary: citizen, respect
Discuss ways your child can show good citizenship and respect for others at school and in the community.
My Words to Know
High-Frequency Words: play, has
Write the words play and has on paper. Then have your child write each word. Think of sentences about good citizens that include each word. Write down the sentences on paper.
Phonics: long i
Use magnetic letters to build words with the long i sound, or you can use pencil and paper to do the activity.
Comprehension: cause and effect
Guide your child in discussions that show what happens when people are good citizens.
Sunglasses Request
Upon our return from spring break, I'd like for each child to bring in a pair of sunglasses. These will be "props" for our upcoming Grandparents' Day. The glasses will be left at school until after this day so that students can practice with them. Please send inexpensive ones in so that there will be no concern if they are lost or broken.
Report Cards
If you have not yet signed and returned the report card envelope, please do so at this time.
Friday Folders
I did not send Friday folders home this week so that you would not have to worry with the possibility of it becoming lost over the spring break.
Liberty Elementary School Kindergarten Roundup
Please help us to spread the word that Liberty Elementary School's Kindergarten Roundup is scheduled for Thursday, April 13. Children must be five years old by August 1, 2017 to attend. Parents need to call the school office (458-5521) and schedule a time to register between 8:30 - 3:15 on the 13th. Parents need to bring the student, a certified birth certificate (not a hospital record), a record of immunizations, proof of residency, drivers license and custodial papers if applicable. Please enter door #37 on Layman Street across from the Auxiliary Gym. School will be in session for the current KinderKids on this day.
Beach Day
We had a fantastic day celebrating our annual Beach Day here at LES. Thank you for allowing your child to dress in his or her summer-like attire for this day. A great time was had by all. Make sure you check out the action-packed pictures below.
