Sophocles wrote the play Oedipus the King.
Laius
Laius gives away his son because he receives a prediction from the Oracle of Apollo that his son will kill him and later on is killed.
Oracle of Apollo
The Oracle of Apollo sends a prediction to Laius and also gave the word of what had to be done to save the plague.
Jocasta
Jocasta was Laius wife. Then, she becomes Oedipus wife and have 4 children.
King Polybus
Polybus is the king of Corinth and the adoptive father of Oedipus.
Queen Merope
Merope is the queen of Corinth and is the adoptive mother of Oedipus.
Oedipus
Oedipus was the son of Laius but then was adopted by others. He was the only man who could answer the riddle and was then proclaimed the savior of Thebes and also married Jocasta and had children.
Sphinx
Sphinx had a head of a women and a body of a lion. She would kill anyone who didn't answer the riddle.
Antigone and Ismene
Antigone and Ismene were the daughters of Oedipus and Jocasta.
Eteocles and polynices
Eteocles and Polynices were sons of Oedipus and Jocasta.
Creon
Creon was the brother in law of Oedipus and is sent to the Oracle of Apollo to ask how to life the blight.
Corinth
King Polybus and Queen Merope were from Corinth.
