TWHS Final Exam Exemption Policy

All students, 9th through 12th, are eligible for final exam exemptions in the Spring Semester. Students must meet the criteria and the discipline requirement listed below. Students must maintain an 85-100 class average for the semester (18-weeks). In addition, the following criteria apply as well:

  1. Students must meet the grade criteria listed above and the requirements listed below.
  2. A student granted a final exam exemption must still attend that class during the final exam period and must be present the entire duration of the final exam period to be considered exempt. Students who check out early during a final exam will forfeit the exemption, receive a grade of zero or incomplete for the exam and will need to schedule a makeup final exam. Failure to attend will result in a zero or an incomplete for that course.
  3. Any student that has served ISS, DAEP, or OSS while enrolled in a course during the semester of the final exam is not eligible for a final exam exemption for that course.
  4. To ensure that all students have the opportunity to complete their exams in a distraction-free environment, the attendance office will not be doing early checkouts during exam periods. Parents and students should plan accordingly so that students remain in their exam period the entire duration of the exam period.

COUNSELORS CORNER:

Summer School Registration: Summer school registration is underway on our campus. If your student is interested in taking an accelerated course such as health, government, etc., please reach out to your student’s counselor. Counselors have also started registering students for credit recovery. Please be in contact with your student’s counselor if you are concerned that your student will need summer school. The final deadline to pre-register your student for summer school is Wednesday June 1st by 2pm via your student’s counselor. The district will hold an In-Person Summer School Registration Event at College Park High School, which will be the final opportunity to register for summer school, on Thursday June 2nd from 4 – 7pm. The link for the brochure is: Summer School - Conroe ISD

Quick Reminder: If your child is able to average the first semester failing grade with the second semester passing grade together for an overall grade of 70 or higher, summer school may not be needed. However, if a student fails second semester, the two semester averages cannot be averaged together for credit recovery. All students have to pass the second semester in order to get second semester credit.

CLINIC NOTES:

If your student has medication checked in to the clinic at school, it must be checked out by a parent or guardian by 12:00 on May 26th, or it will be discarded. We are not allowed to send medication home with students or store it over the summer. We are available in the clinic from 7:00-3:00 on school days.

If you need a copy of your senior's vaccination record for their college or university, please request that by emailing aransley@conroeisd.net no later than May 26th. We are not able to submit them for you, and please be aware that students need a second dose of MCV4 (meningitis) received on or after their 16th birthday to be considered complete for college. You may also want to discuss the optional Meningitis B vaccine with your child's doctor; it protects against an additional strand of the meningococcal bacteria.

If your child has a chronic condition such as asthma, severe allergies, seizures, or diabetes that requires emergency medication to either be carried by the student, or stored in the clinic or training room, please be aware that doctor's orders/action plans must be renewed each school year. Also, emergency medications and orders must be on file before students may start participating in any sports or other UIL activities for the new school year.
