1.) Race & Criminal Justice
This year there have been many hate crimes and with social media its we've been seeing more of it. One other thing that had become popular in the last year was #BlackLivesMatter. Although the hashtag has been around since 2012 it got a lot of recognition this last year. This hashtag changed the way people talked about police brutality and inequality.
ISIS i'm sure everyone has heard of that name before. This terrorist group came to light in 2014 when they began killing U.S journalists. As 2015 was coming to an end ISIS attacked Paris in November 13, 2015. The attacks that occurred in Paris brought people from around the world together to #PrayforParis. Although they prayed for Paris, not many people thought of the Syrian refugees and turned a blind eye to them.
3.) Gay Marriage Legalized
On June 26, 2015 same-sex marriage was legalized with a 5-4 decision. The news that #LoveWins made many people happy. This event would is truly a big part in history, and gave equality to people who have been wronged for their sexuallity.
With 2016 coming to an end people have been thinking of who our next president should be. One of the candidates Donald Trump has grown in popularity for talking bad about hispanics and women. While he is entertaining for being really annoying, many people believe that he is not fit to be president.
5.) Gun Control/ Shootings
With mass shootings happening more frequently people are asking if civilians should be allowed to keep guns. But some people believe they should be allowed to walk freely with their guns being visible, because of the second amendment. Peoples concerns for safety are different and is made this controversial.
