Newsletter Week 3 Term 3
Sacred Heart School Christchurch - 12 August 2022
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
We never got the snow that the staff were excited about but we certainly have had our share of rain. The first week of swimming has gone really well and teachers have talked about the increased confidence they are seeing from children in the pool. It is also an important opportunity for children to show and be a little bit more independent with organising themselves with the correct gear and for the younger ones being able to dress themselves. Please remember to make the most of this opportunity and send children with swimming gear all next week. We have had a few children who aren't swimming as the have a cold or a runny nose. Please remember if they have a runny nose and can’t swim they probably shouldn't be at school.
There has been progress on our latest building project and we were delighted to see the diggers in action on Tuesday and Wednesday. This is an exciting project that we look forward to being able to share with you in the near future. The Year 4-8 project is also building momentum out the back of their block.
Monday 15th August marks the Feast of the Assumption which is celebrated all over Christendom. This special holy day marks the occasion of the Virgin Mary's bodily ascent to heaven at the end of her life. Children will recognise this significant day on our calendar through prayers to Mary and in their classroom lessons.
Have a great weekend
Sport
It was great to see students back at Pioneer enjoying Swim Safe lessons this week. These lessons will continue next week. Please remind your children daily to bring their swimming gear so they can make the most of these lessons.
Well done to both basketball teams who had wins last week. The year 5 and 6 team had a convincing win and the year 7 and 8 team snuck in by 1 point. Keep up the great work.
Congratulations to Bella who competed at the Taekwondo Nationals in Auckland last weekend. She came home with two gold medals for Poomsae and Sparring in the blue belt, red tab division.
