COYOTE CONNECTIONS

Weekly Updates from Mrs. Cervantes - May 21, 2023

Good afternoon, Coyote Ridge families!

May is always a super busy and fun month at CRE, especially as we enjoy these last few days of school before the summer! Thank you very much to our fabulous CRE PTA for providing the 5th grade EOY celebration field trip to the Perot Museum and bounce houses and popsicles for the PK-4th EOY celebrations! The kids all had a blast, and we appreciate all of you who volunteered your time. :-).

Thursday Bakers was also a big hit for the staff! The treats were DELICIOUS! Thank you!

We are winding down to this last week of school, with an early release at 11:45AM on the last day, Thursday, May 25th.

In this newsletter, you'll find information on our grade level awards ceremonies (with links to register so we can have your visitor badges ready), 23-24 School Supplies Pack ordering information, Library Summer Fun Reading Challenges, LISD Back to School Fair, and a link to the CRE PTA Facebook page to keep up to date on summer playdates and get-togethers over the summer.

Have a terrific week, everyone!

Awards Ceremonies

We'd love to have you join us for our End-of-Year Awards Ceremonies! Your child's teacher shared this information with you in their class newsletters, but I'm also including it here. If you are attending, please fill out the RSVP form so the office ladies can have your visitor badges pre-printed and ready to go when you check in at the office.

Summer Reading!

Hello CRE families! We are so close to the end of the school year that I can feel the anticipation of summer from all of our students! With that in mind, the students have learned about the Summer Reading Challenges that are happening all over town including our very own CRE Summer Reading Challenge!

(see "CRE Summer Reading Challenge" picture below)

This summer our students can choose their own challenge! They can choose to read 50 picture books or 50 chapters. For each picture book or chapter, the students read they will be able to color in (or pop) a balloon! If they complete their challenge and return it to the library during Meet the Teacher night or the first week of school, they will earn a prize!

There are many more reading challenges happening around town! Scan the QR codes to learn more about reading challenges happening at the Carrollton and Lewisville Libraries, Chuck E. Cheese, Pizza Hut, Barnes&Noble and Half Prize Books!

(see "Summer Fun Around Town" picture below)

Your child will receive a paper copy of the challenges before the last day of school! Thank you for supporting the importance of maintaining reading fluency and skills over the summer break!

Coyote Ridge PTA (Parent-Teacher Association)

Parents, we invite you to join the CRE PTA! Along with spirit wear sales will be online membership and registration. I encourage ALL parents/guardians and staff to join, and we will continue to aim for 100% membership. Please remember that your membership dues go to support the school with items and programs that directly and positively impact your child's learning experience at CRE. Your membership also helps us have a collective voice in matters that impact education as a whole. Your membership in no way obligates you to any specific volunteer tasks or participation in meetings, but we'd love to have you! We proudly aim for 100% CRE staff participation, and we'd love to get as many families in as possible. Grandparents, neighbors, and community members are welcome members as well!

To join PTA and/or order CRE Spirit Wear, click on our CRE PTA website below and follow the steps. REMINDER: Membership dues go to support the school with programs directly impacting our students learning experience at CRE. Joining the PTA, in no way obligates you to specific volunteer events or participation in meeting. We would love to have you join, but there is NO obligation.
