Teacher Positions Open
Certified/Degreed Vacancies
Certified vacancies include all positions that require a valid Louisiana teaching certificate and/or four-year college degree (ex. teachers, RN's, accountants, etc).

End of the Year Awards
Each student will receive 2 tickets ONLY for 2 guests. Each grade level has a different ticket, Example: a Grade 5 ticket CANNOT be used for Grade 1 awards.
Guests MUST present ticket to enter - no one will be allowed in without a ticket.
Each student will bring home their 2 tickets on Wednesday, May 19.
Siblings will not be allowed to leave class and attend.If a sibling comes from home they must use 1 of your 2 tickets.
Employees of JOES will not be allowed in without a ticket.
The awards program will be recorded and posted on each grades Google Classroom.
Awards that will be given out for the 2021-2022 Awards Day
Gold medal - 4.0 GPA
Silver medal -3.99 to 3.50 with no c GPA
Honor Roll certificate -3.49 to 3.0 GPA
Top 10 AR students
Most Improved in each class
Band - grade 5
There will be NO Perfect Attendance awards for the 2020-2021 school year.

Pre-K Registration Online
Online Pre-K Registration Instructions
Online PRE-KINDERGARTEN registration is now available for those students that have not previously been enrolled in the district. If your child was enrolled in Pre-K in a Vermilion Parish public school or receiving SPED services in an at-home/daycare capacity for the 2020-2021 school year, contact the school you are zoned for to get a different registration packet. For all others, click the link below.

The parent or legal guardian must present the following documents at the time of registration:
Child’s birth certificate
Child’s social security card
Child’s updated immunization record—the document must include the expiration date found at the top of the page
2 proofs of domicile---- the first document must be a current electric bill. If the electric bill is not in the parent’s name, an affidavit (see Parent Resources section below) must be completed and notarized. The second document must be one of the items listed below:
Documents must show the parents name and a physical address not a post office box number
The following can be a second proof: water or gas bill, apartment or house lease receipt or documentation providing ownership, filed Homestead Exemption Application Form
2 proofs of income----All adults in the household must provide proof of income. The documents can be the following:
a) 2 most recent, consecutive dated check stubs (stubs must be from within last 2 months of employment),
b) documentation from social security indicating benefits for the enrolling pre-kg child,
c) SNAP/food stamp benefits details page with all family members listed and current certification date
d) Placement by Department of Child/Family Services- placement documentation must be provided
e) Homeless Families- verification will be made with the Vermilion Parish Student Services Dept.
f) Parents with no income must complete a “Statement of No Income” affidavit (see Parent Resources section below) with the authorized personnel at the time of registration
g) Parents with irregular income such as farming, fishing/seafood industry, or business owner must complete an Irregular Income Form
**Note: Proof of income is required to help identify non-at-risk students based on socio-economic status. Tuition will apply to some students.
Pre-Kindergarten Eligibility Criteria
Classes will be determined using the following criteria:
Children whose parents qualify at or below 200% federal poverty level
Children identified as homeless or in foster care

Fundraisers
Concession Sales: Students may purchase individually wrapped snacks in the morning. All snacks are $1.00. Please make certain that you send snack money with your child in the morning. We will not collect snack money at the office during the day to get to students. We cannot interrupt class time or be responsible for monies lost or misplaced.
Please continue to help Jesse Owens Elementary raise funds at no extra expense to you. Ask your family and friends to do the same. Your trash can be our treasure!!!

Forward your email receipt to receipts@boxtops4education.com using the same email that's associated with your BTFE account.
Twice a year, your school will receive a check and can use that cash to buy whatever it needs!
Community Coffee Labels: Cut Community Coffee Products UPC labels. Proceeds help fund the AR and Library programs.
