Hold Me Tight: A Relationship Enhancement Weekend Workshop for Couples
When: Saturday and Sunday May 6th & May 7th, 2023
Where: Psychology Specialists of Maine, Fort Andross, 14 Maine Street, Suite 309, Brunswick
Who: This is an educational and immersive relationship enhancement workshop for all couples who want to strengthen and deepen their relationship. Therapists are also welcome to attend with their partner to deepen their learning of the neuroscience of love and attachment theory and, engage in experiential bonding conversations, and earn 12-CEUs for their experience.
Time: Saturday, May 6th 8:45am to 5:30pm & Sunday, May 7th 9:00am to 4:00pm
Fee: $895.00 (FEE REDUCED TO $595 FOR MAINE LICENSED THERAPISTS AND includes 12 CE CREDITS). Fee includes custom workbook, Wild Oats breakfast, refreshments, coffee, tea & water). 75 minutes for lunch will be provided on Saturday and Sunday with local eatery recommendations.
COVID POLICY: Vaccination and booster is required for all attendees or proof of negative COVID test. CDC guidelines will be followed for mask recommendations. In the event that the workshop is cannot be held in person, you will have the option for a full refund or to attend November, 2022.

CE for Therapists
While this workshop is open to all couples, many therapists take our Hold Me Tight® Workshop with their partner to learn Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFT), Attachment Theory and Hold Me Tight in experiential ways.
12 hours of Continuing Education Credits are available to all Maine licensed Psychologists, LCSWs, and LCPCs. Our workshop is open to all couples. Therapists who wish to attend with their partner will earn 12 CEUs for experiential learning.
Objective #1: Participants will be able to define the three “Demon Dialogues” (Find the Bad Guy, Freeze & Flee and Protest Polka) from the Hold Me Tight book and define “Negative Cycles”.
Objective #2: Participants will be able to identify “Raw Spots” and their underlying feelings (beyond immediate, impulsive reactions).
Objective #3: Participants will integrate understanding of Negative Cycles and Raw Spots, and engage in the steps necessary to re-visit a “Rocky Moment.”
Objective #4: Participants will be able to discuss the importance of attachment repair and forgiveness in healthy relationships and describe the six-step model of forgiveness.
Objective #5: Participants will be able to demonstrate knowledge of and engage in a Hold Me Tight conversation with their partner including the expression of vulnerable emotions and attachment-related needs.
Objective #6: Participants will be able to discuss the importance of touch, intimacy and sex in the building of a secure connection with a partner and engage in a conversation with their partners about their intimate life.
Target Audience: This training is appropriate for mental health practitioners as well as couples in other professions.
Activity Level: Level is Beginner.
CE Credits are available upon request. Psychology Specialists of Maine is approved by the Maine Board of Psychologists to provide continuing professional education for psychologists, LCPCs, LMFTs, and LCSW’s.
The Hold Me Tight Workshop meets the qualifications for 12 hours of continuing education credit for Psychologists as required by the Maine Board of Psychologists.
The Hold Me Tight Workshop meets the qualifications for 12 hours of continuing education credit for LCPSs, LMFTs and/or LCSWs as required by the Maine licensing boards.
Attendance Policy
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Those who attend this workshop in full and complete the appropriate evaluation will receive CE credits. Please note that credit will only be granted to those who attend the entire workshop. Those arriving more than 15 minutes after the start time or leaving before the workshop is completed will not receive the full CE credit.
ABOUT THE PRESENTERS
Theresa Bullock Cohen, LICSW, CGP
Theresa Bullock Cohen is a certified EFT couples therapist & supervisor, a certified group psychotherapist, a licensed independent clinical social worker, and a board certified coach in full-time private practice. She has a private practice in Nantucket, MA, where she specializes in working with adults who seek support around their relationships or major life transitions.
Theresa is a former supervisor for Harvard University Mental Health Services, and currently supervises and provides consultation to other therapists in private practice. She has taught as an adjunct professor at the Boston College Graduate School of Social Work and is currently on the teaching faculty for the Northeastern Society for Group Psychotherapy training program.
For over 20 years, Theresa has enjoyed taking complex information, synthesizing it into understandable material and delivering it in a dynamic and engaging manner as a public speaker, trainer, group leader, and workshop presenter. Theresa has presented at Harvard University, Northeastern University, Boston College, Cambridge Hospital, and the annual conference for the Northeastern Society for Group Psychotherapy.
Julie Quimby, Ph.D.
Julie relocated to Maine in 2008 and she taught at Bowdoin College for several years while establishing her private practice. In 2016, Julie founded a behavioral health practice, Psychology Specialists of Maine, where she leads a team of 25 psychologists and trains and supervises postdoctoral residents Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy. Julie is committed to supporting psychologists and trainees to reach their highest potential, and to providing educational workshops and continuing education programs for mental health professionals.
