Chester Elementary School

September 12, 2018

Greetings CES Families,

We are in to our fourth week and enjoying learning more about our students and families, introducing new concepts into our curriculum, and emphasizing our 3 values - being respectful, being safe and being responsible. Our students are responding well, and are off to an excellent start!

A few updates to add to your calendar:

Friday, September 14 - our CHS friends will be celebrating their homecoming, and will be swinging their parade by CES at approximately 1:40 pm. Most teachers will be taking their students to the front of the school to cheer on our CHS friends. Regardless, students are encouraged to wear their green and white colors.

Friday, September 21 - Picture Day! School flyers and announcements are sent home in our CES folders on Mondays. Please review the information and decide if you would like to purchase pictures from the company Lifetouch. All students will be photographed for the class picture.

October 8-12 - Parent Conferences. 1st-6th grade students will be dismissed at 1:00 each day, allowing an opportunity for parents to meet with their child's teacher individually. K students will continue to be dismissed at 12:30. We are striving to reach all parents with an in person or phone conference. Conference schedules will be coming home on Monday, September 17. Please confirm your appointment by Monday September 24.

As always, please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. We want to keep our communication channels open, and have a positive partnership with all of our families to ensure our students are receiving an exceptional educational experience.

PTA Officers announced

We are excited to announce that we had enough interest to continue with a PTA group for CES for our 2018-19 school year. Our new officers include Raquel Greenaway- President; Brittany Handley- Vice President, Tanya Miller- Secretary and Jody Haver- Treasurer. Our PTA is currently planning several events to support our students throughout the year, and are finalizing a monthly meeting schedule. We appreciate anyone who is able to support these efforts. Our PTA officers can be reached via email at

Plumas Deputies Visiting Chester Elementary

We are excited to welcome our Plumas County Sheriff's Office Deputies to CES on a monthly basis. They will be visiting on the second Wednesday of each month with 4th-6th graders. We will invite 4-6 students each month to spend a little time with the officers. This will be an opportunity for students to get to know the officers, and for the officers to get to know our students, with the primary objective to build relationships with our friends from the Plumas County Sheriff's Office. Please call Mr. Reeder if you have any questions or concerns.
