Dear Simpson Superstars,


The school year is off to a wonderful start! I am very excited to be starting my third year as the proud principal of Simpson Elementary School! The students, teachers, and support staff here work very hard to make every minute of the school day count! Parents--thank you for all you do to support our work. It is truly a team effort!


It was great to see so many of you during our Virtual Curriculum Night. I look forward to seeing you at our very first PTA Spirit Night “Picnic in the Park” at the Town Center on Thursday, September 23rd (5pm-7pm). Thank you to our PTA for sponsoring this event. We appreciate the support our wonderful PTA provides. It makes a difference! If you have not already done so, I would strongly encourage you to join our PTA. Have a great September, and as always, don’t hesitate to let me know if I can be of assistance.

Important Safety Reminders


If you are checking out your child early from school, please do so by 3:00 PM. This leaves our bus lanes open for bus arrivals. Also, please remember that picture ID is required for all student check-outs. Thank you!

Health and Wellness

As we plan for a successful start to the school year, I want to thank you all for continuing to adhere to CDC guidelines for health and wellness. We will continue to follow building safety measures to minimize risk and create a healthy learning environment for all. Please review the following procedures we have in place. In addition, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the main office.


• Masks REQUIRED in all public areas (hallways, media center, classrooms)

• Adhere to the one-way hallways when possible

• Health guidance posters will be displayed throughout the building

• Each common area and classroom will have a box of gloves, paper towels, and sanitizer

• Custodial schedules are in place to ensure the cleaning of high touch areas daily

• Refrain from sharing materials (i.e., pens, pencils, etc.)

• Frequent hand washing practices will be implemented daily

• Students are socially distanced during school lunch hours, when feasible


Visitation limits in the building-- Postponement of parental lunch visitation until further notice. Volunteers are welcome in classrooms, but on a limited basis. Please email your child’s teacher for details, if interested. All other school-related teacher-conferences or registrations will be by appointment only.


If you are feeling sick, please stay home. . If you or anyone in your home is sick and/or has tested positive for COVID-19, please email your child’s homeroom teacher or contact our school nurse, Ms. Amy Norris, immediately.

I Scream You Scream

We All Scream for Ice Cream


Students will have the opportunity to purchase ice cream from a variety of selections during lunch. Ice cream is $1.00 and will be sold Monday through Friday for all grade levels. Class Parties for ice creams sales are also available. Please email your child’s homeroom teacher for details.

Cafeteria Monitor

Are you interested in earning some money for just a few hours in a day? Simpson Elementary is looking for a kind, friendly, and supportive person to serve as a student cafeteria monitor. If you or someone you know is interested in serving in this role, please contact Traci Douglas for details. Yearbook Update!

Submit your first day of school photos!


The Yearbook Committee needs your help in making the yearbook a success. Right now, we are looking for first day of school photos. If you have photos of your Simpson Superstar that you want to be considered for the yearbook, please be sure to upload them into the Balfour system.There are two ways to upload your photos:



  1. Download the Balfour Image Share app on your mobile device (Android and/or iPhone) and use project number 225879 for Simpson Elementary.
  2. Upload your photos on the Balfour website at images.balfour.com and use project number 225879. No password required. Please make sure to include your child's name and grade when uploading the images.


Yearbooks and 5th Grade Baby Ads will go on sale for the first time in OCTOBER. Please stay tuned for more details.

PTA Reflections Contest

Simpson PTA would like to invite students of all grades and abilities to participate in Reflections this year!


The theme is "I Will Change the World By..."


Students can create original works in Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography & Visual Arts. It is important to relate the artists’ statement and piece to the theme. No limit on number of entries or categories.

Upcoming Virtual Author Visits!

The PTA will be hosting Virtual Author Visits!

  • Alex Willan is our first virtual author and will visit K-2 on Thursday, September 9th. He will be featuring his new book "Dragons are the Worst".
  • Lev Grossman will be visiting with Grades 3-5 on Monday, September 13th. He will be featuring his new book "The Silver Arrow".

Attention 4th and 5th Grade Parents of Current Bike Riders!

Stay tuned for further information on the Bike Safety Course. Time and date are being confirmed and flyers with permission slips will go home in folders soon with all the information. The course will be held at Simpson Elementary with a Gwinnett County police officer and is required for all biker riders.

Spirit Night!

Mark your calendar for Thursday, September 23rd for our next spirit night at Town Center! The restaurant will be announced but plan on coming out and hanging out on the lawn with other Simpson families.
