Club Day- Club day is coming up on September 19th during lunch. This is a day for you to explore all the wonderful clubs we have to offer here at DATA.
Students will begin running the mile outside campus this week.
Students who returned their signed permission slip will be allowed to participate. There will be supervisors stationed at different areas and a couple on bicycles to escort the kids. Students who have did not return their signed permission slip or whose parents declined will have an alternate on campus rote to run.
Please review the following safety rules with your child. We will also review these in class.
Rules of the Road
SAFETY FIRST:
1. Obey all traffic laws when running.
a. Cross at crosswalks
b. Wait until it is your turn at traffic lights
c. Look all directions prior to crossing an intersection
d. Always give vehicles the benefit of doubt
2. Make sure a car is stopped and you have eye contact with the driver prior to crossing in front of a vehicle.
3. When safe, run facing traffic. Run on the safest side
4. Choose the safest place to run. Usually, that may be the sidewalk.
5. Respect cars, bikes and pedestrians’ rights to the roadways and pathways.
6. Leave headphones and Ipods at home when running.
7. Call out obstructions and dangers ahead for other runners.
8. Respect property rights. Stay on public streets, trails and paths unless given individual
permission to run on private property.
