MESSAGE FROM OUR ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS
Happy November Bear families!
We have several events coming up this month so please be sure to look at our calendar and come support our programs. One of our special events is our annual Veterans Day Breakfast and Program. If you or a family member are a Veteran, we invite you to come enjoy our program on November 10. A light breakfast will be at 8:30 a.m. in the cafeteria and the program will follow at 9:00 a.m. in the gym. This is such a special day for our students and staff and we love to honor our Veterans on this day.
We would also like to invite you to come support our 7th and 8th grade Bears at our annual Backyard Brawl. We will take on the Lions at the Bear Stadium on November 6 and 8 starting at 4:30 p.m. Our kids love to see and have the support from their friends and family.
I want to end by thanking you for assisting us with reminding your student to bring their laptop to school each day and to continue to wear their ID badge each day. We still have several forgetting their badge at home, so please continue to help us remind them each morning. Keeping the ID badge in their backpack so they remember each day is what we are trying to instill.
Thank you again for your continued support. We love our Bears and wish you and your family a happy and safe Thanksgiving break.
MESSAGE FROM OUR COUNSELORS
From the Counselors' Corner:
If your family is in need of holiday assistance this year, either for Thanksgiving or Christmas, please let Mrs. Stewart know by November 3rd if you need a meal for Thanksgiving, and by November 6th if you need assistance for Christmas. Please reach out to Mrs. Stewart at tressie.stewart@misd.org with any questions.
The character trait we are spotlighting this month is responsibility. We have defined responsibility as proving you can be trusted with what’s expected of you. We all have responsibilities. Whether we’re students, parents, or employees, we all have things that we’re expected to do. Students have been encouraged through motivational announcements to work hard to get positive results by being a responsible student that is prepared to learn everyday, completes assignments on time, and studies for tests. Character counts at MJH!

FROM DISTRICT TECHNOLOGY
PARENTS -
Digital safety is critically important to Montgomery ISD, which is why we are now using Bark for Schools to help us protect students online while using school-issued technology and devices. Parents now have the option to sign up for a free account as part of Montgomery ISD’s partnership with Bark.
Bark monitors for signs of potential issues like:
- Cyberbullying
- Suicidal ideation
- Online predators
- Threats of violence
- And more
Alerts at the first signs of danger
When possible dangers arise on school-issued accounts, Bark for Schools sends us alerts so we can address the situation in a timely manner. These alerts also give us insights that help us promote the wellness of students.
Sign up to get alerts with Parent Portal
Students use their school-issued accounts both at school and at home, and families are often in a better position to respond to urgent alerts after hours, on weekends, and during breaks. To receive an invitation to create your optional free account for the Bark for Schools Parent Portal, please navigate to bit.ly/MISDbark and fill out the request form. As soon as you opt-in, you’ll be able to receive after-hours alerts if Bark detects potentially time-sensitive issues.
Bark Parental Portal Request Form
Please fill out this form if you want to receive an invitation to create your free account for the Bark for Schools Parent Portal. LUNCH VISITORS
A friendly reminder, we do not have an open lunch policy so please do not order food for your child from outside vendors to be delivered to the school during the school day (i.e. Uber Eats, Grub Hub, Door Dash, or any kind of delivery service). This is a safety concern that disrupts the educational process within our community and random people delivering food is not part of our safety plan. In addition, please do not not bring or share lunches with other students due to safety, medical concerns, allergies, etc.
We do have a parent lunch tables for parents to eat lunch with their student and a friend.
Parent Drop Off Table: If your child forgets their lunch, we have a parent drop off table in the front foyer for you to drop off lunches. Please let your child know you have brought their lunch to school.
TRANSPORTATION CHANGES
We ask that you make every effort to request transportation changes prior to 1:30 p.m. in order for us to be certain that your student leaves in the correct manner. You may make changes by:
- Sending a note with your child;
MJH CAR RIDER LINE/BUS POLICY
Due to the continued growth of MISD, we will no longer allow extra riders to ride the bus routes. Only registered riders will be allowed on the bus routes. We highly encourage students to car-pool to school due to the high volume of traffic and limited parking during the morning hours.
